Donut Island by odedro987

Welcome to Donut Island! You are stuck on a big donut with a bunch of candy monsters who are out to kill you. The monsters get stronger overtime, so make sure you push some delicious candy corpses to the ancient well of sacrifice in the middle of the map. When the well fills up you will get bonus items to fill up on health and upgrade your character. But hurry up, because a walking trash can is out to take away the corpses.

All in all, this is quite a nice arcade game! :)
The sprites are great and the music is catchy.
Falling down being game over feels a bit too harsh, I think just taking damage and getting reset on the donut would be fairer.
Once I got a few upgrades I felt much stronger. I still couldn't last very long in all my attempts though :D

I had a bit of a trouble to aim witch was really frustrating for me. I couldn't manage to push the bodies into the pit. That's a pity because the rest of the game is well thought out.
That would be easier (and maybe more interesting) if you could push corpses by yourself, rather than having to fire on them.
Then, you could walk on a corpse and push it in the middle hole, while firing at the opposite side, on an enemy that stands on the border.
Also, the shotgun is pretty useless and it made me lost. All the enemies have low life points, so little guns which fire fast are more efficient than big gun which fire slow. I would prefer a laser or a minigun, if you have some.
Nice graphics and music.
Balancing these types of games is very hard especially when you have so little time ^^;
@recher That's a good idea actually! Also my teammate could not go back to the pistol after the shotgun, but I agree with you that the pistol is better.
What might be a good idea is to have some sort of warning before an enemy spawns, so that you could move to find a better point of attack :)
Felt like the shotgun RoF was a bit too low.
It did take me a while to realize you had to shoot the dead bodies into the center hole to get points for new item drop. Maybe you could add score texts that appear from the bottom of the pit that float up to make it clearer or something similar?
And also the shotgun and SMG both aren't as strong as the default pistol, since the SMG does too little damage, and the shotgun doesnt' really work well for shooting accurately and effectively. The damage of the SMG could be upped, and maybe the shotgun could penetrate enemies twice. That way they could both be viable weapons, because currently it's almost like getting a game over if you pick them up.
The bullets are also a bit too similar in color to the background, so they're not as easy to spot. Maybe you could add warning arrows on the edges of the screen when new monsters spawn too, as an early warning so you don't suddenly get shot by a not yet seen enemy that spawns in on the other side of the level.
Other than that I really enjoyed this game, the graphics are nice and it fits the theme pretty well :)

I like the gameplay loop and the fact you have to keep yourself on the donut. Maybe too keep the pace, you could just collect enemies into the donut center the similar way the trashcan does?
Also, SMG/Rifle should have better damage than pistol :D
Nontheless, very fun and addicting game. Job well done and keep up the good work!
