I like the art style, but I couldn't get a good feel of the controlls they feel a bit sluggish. Also I couldn't really get the what the loop was.

@rost hey, thanks for your comment! Could u please elaborate on controlls being sluggish? I'd like to keep on working on the game outside of the jam and this info would be real helpful

The animation and lighting is amazing! Only thing I noticed is at the right side of the screen sometimes some white lines will appear, but they weren't interfering with gameplay or anything :) My suggestion is to add an exit button too, I got a bit stuck trying to quit from html fullscreen version ^^' Really cool game!

Loved the graphics. The shadow effects you created were beautiful. Not 100% on theme... but a great game for sure :raised_hands:

I really like the animation and lighting, but the nature of the game doesn't seem to lend itself an end, though definitely an intentional choice. It would be neat if you could regain health every now and then from destroying enemies. Also, I ran into a bug in which one of the enemies was invincible.

Loved the lighting on the map and dashing felt very natural and intuitive.

I really like the pixel art animations and the shadow effect. Since you said you want to keep working on the game, some tips I would give are to add sound effects so that the combat feels more engaging, and use your pixel art skills to flesh out the world more. I would also polish the movement since for some reason the character feels a bit weightless. Otherwise it was a fun game and I hope you keep working on it.

The character art looks beautiful! And the music was very fitting, it all had a good atmosphere. I wanted to dash more then die, but well, thats stamina i guess^^

It would be better to use a standard control. Art is pretty strong in this game. The game loop is simple. More elements should be added for more fun. Good job.

Hey ! If you want to continue after the jam, I would recommend few things.

First, the energy bar isn't well designed currently. The game is literally named "Dash or Die", but I cannot dash as I want, so I guess I just die...
What I mean is that in a combat we need defence options as a player, and there's only one : the dash. So you have your offensive option and the defensive option on the same mechanic, which is the dash (this isn't bad at all, in fact it's pretty cool). The problem is that I cannot use it to kill enemies and avoid their attack at the same time, because I'm limited in my dashes, and there are too much enemies.

Here's few ideas to fix that:
-Create another mechanic to give defensive option, like a block.
-Tweak the recovery of the energy bar, or create rewarding mechanics if you want to keep the risk/reward when slashing in the mass. Example: When hitting an enemy, fill up all the energy bar.

Try adding more "juice" to the game. Screenshakes, blood particles, all types of particles actually, trail renderers, sfx... This WILL improve your game a lot, trust me.

I don't understand why there is a fog war, but it didn't bother me so I guess you could keep it.

Anyway, the graphics looks lit, especially the enemies and all the animations. (I will be so insane with particles). I would just recommand more shades on the main character.

Keep it up, it could be a great finished game.

@ethan-losten I mean that the combat felt really indirect. Maybe I did not understand the controls but it didn't feel responsive.

Anyway like I said graphics are really good!

I got stuck in a wall. I could still attack but since I couldn't move, all I could do was wait for them to kill me. Also more feedback on when you get hit would be nice. I missed the slight flash many times and looking away from the character to see the healthbar is difficult when you're trying to dodge away from enemies. It felt unsatisfying to hit and kill enemies because there were no sound effects.

@angelee yeah, this bug is known and it's very annoying, we'll fix it in time! Good point about feedback and UI. Thank you for your time and patience, I think we'll fix all that issues soon <:

cool art style! The atmosphere is there, I'm just not personally a big fan of hack&slash.

The game seems to have some potential! Right now it's too hard to dodge attacks from enemies hehe.

I like the art style and audio but the controls felt a little odd. The dash didn't feel natural for me. I think locking the general movement when you dash might give a better feel as well. That's my take anyway. Otherwise nice work.

@dark-prince-zen truth doesn't hurt! We see through the feedback given, that controls overall are not as smooth as we intended it to be, so thank you for you time and feedback. It's important for us <3

Just only 1 type of enemy :( Variety of enemies with different killing tactics would be awesome. Nice grapgics!
