Guardian of the Flame by Mathstr0fficial

Guardian of the Flame is a single-screen survival platformer in which you try to protect your magical flame from danger. There are magical blasts and an angry storm cloud to avoid, which are extremely dangerous. Luckily, you have a special connection with your flame, where neither of you can be hurt while in the other's company! Just be sure to avoid getting hit, because that knocks your flame away and severs the connection. The flame is extremely fragile and can die in a single hit from such powerful attacks, and you're not much better off, so try to avoid danger as much as possible.

The enemy is not very persistent however, and will give up after only a minute of hunting as they really don't care if you're alive or dead at the end of the day. Keep the flame (and yourself) alive to successfully escape from the temple in the sky!

Nice little game, only about 5 minutes or less but definitely could see more levels. Nice artwork.

nice game. Short arcade action. Took a while to figure out the mechanics and find the limited controls. That's not a complaint, just an observation. The controls feel pretty reactive despite being an HTML game. The audio was good but a smidgen too loud. But hey I have a volume control on my speaker. Overall though it was a fun platformer. :D

The audio is pretty nice. I kept trying to climb the vines but didn't figure that out, so I relied on screen wrapping. Nice!

Simple and enjoyable! Mechanics around protecting the flame / keeping it alive could have fit the theme better - e.g. thunder cloud could always goes for the flame if it's not in your bubble - but that's forgivable given the time constraints. I see what you were going for at least, and I had fun!

Cool game, but death sound is too loud, also i found a bug, fire boy sometimes spawns in a wall, making him impossible to reach

For some reason, the game seems to be unresponsive to key presses when the audio plays. Before, you can move fine, but afterwards, when the audio plays, the presses do not work. And you also die with game over with 2 hearts left.

Other than that, the art is fine and I understand the objective!

i really really liked the art, the gameplay was good, and the sound effect were all right, but i have some complaints.. i died with hearts still standing strong, so i don't really understand how dying works. also at the very top it seems that the character is getting stuck, you might wanna look into that.

@doritolord What likely happened when you died with hearts remaining is that the flame died, which also ends in a game over. The main character has 3 hearts, but the flame can only take a single hit when not under the protection of the player. It's a bit confusing and I probably should have made that more clear, but I hope it makes a little more sense at least.

It is interesting not to die, I do not know if I followed a next level but I survived for a long time without taking my lives or the bubble and it would be good if I changed levels, it was not so long in the same dynamic, good job!!!

Thanks for submitting the game to our stream!
Looks like a nice concept, I like the fact that you need to stay near the flame. Its not a baisc feed or die game etc...

The concept looks nice. One thing is that it's easy to avoid the cloud because of the screen overlap and we can go through one end of the screen but the cloud cant. Also once the flame got stuck in a wall for me.
