BOKSIL by Inkajoo

[raw]
made by Inkajoo for Ludum Dare 45 (JAM)

While on vacation, Boksil's owner purposefully abandoned her on an island. Having nothing but her wits and senses, can she survive? Will she ever be rescued?

This is just a demo of what I was able to get done while simultaneously adding features to my custom game engine (mental exhaustion was ultimately my demise).

You can't eat or sleep, and there's just one thing you can interact with ...

I do intend on finishing it.

If your computer warns you of a virus in the zip file, try to circumvent that, I promise there is none. It's not my fault - I want to switch to another Forth compiler that doesn't have this issue but it's a lot of work.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DEALING WITH WINDOWS DEFENDER

A popup may show up saying that a virus has been detected. The exe file may be automatically deleted.

Click the popup to see a list of the threats detected. You'll see a trojan associated with the game. You want to expand that and click Allow. Then unzip the game again and it should run (after clicking More Info in the warning about it being a potential threat.)

Sorry. I found out I have to codesign it and codesigning certificates are expensive.

I just found a cheap code signing thingy so I might look into this. Thankfully the rating period is long.

Any way for you to compile forth programs to javascript/wasm to play in browser? Code signing shouldn't be necessary then.

For starters, on my machine game started flawlessly. I had no problems with that.
However, It is really far from being completed. Only thing, that seems somewhat intractable is a post sign. While uploading, you could choose "Unfinished" category.
I liked the Zeldish artstyle, and engine seems to be working well.
