Trending Beasts by Siuler LM

[raw]
made by Siuler LM for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Jetty's legend is going to be forgotten. As to keep it alive, this beast needs to appear in front of people and to become more popular.

TrendingBeastsCover.png

BigBoot and Niessy weren't able to join the game due to the required extra efforts. Nevertheless, in case it's requested by people, there will be a new version after GameJam including them. Besides some game improvements that couldn't be implemented on time.

The "After Jam version" is available! Feel free to play it after you tried the jam version.

People will change into green color and spread the Jetty's knowledge to the people that is far away.

Don't let the popularity drops under 10% or the game will end. Keep going for 80 years or reach 90% of popularity.

I hope you enjoy the game, sorry for the English mistakes, thanks for playing and for your comments!

Don't forget to enable the sound, switched OFF by default. switchSoundOn.png

Game available as Windows executable and playable in a HTML Browser.

Update: I appreciate the feedback you gave me. Therefore, I will do some improvements and release a post-JAM version with some features and ideas that couldn’t be implemented on time for the game jam delivery. Thanks!

Pretty cool idea, nice game overall. Good job.

Interesting concept but definitely needed some more gameplay options, and some risk/reward choices. It seemed like any time I clicked my popularity would always go up so there wasn't much to think about.

I really like the idea and the setting. I could only reach 80% though.

I like the idea! I'd like to see it expanded on to add move gameplay and a bit more challenge (that said, reaching 90% seems really hard, but losing also seems impossible)

Okay, its a nice idea and it works. But it took to long to win the game and it was not very challenging.

Really like the concept of the rumors spreading. Sadly, there really isn't any gameplay besides clicking and hoping the people will take a path that allows them to spread the rumors. A lot of them where kind of stuck in a loop around a block. Cool idea, but not optimally executed.

I always appreciate a web build! A really cool idea and I'd love to see it developed further. :) The idea of mythical monsters getting with the times and having to get an online presence is really funny.

Being able to move around the map to appear would have been an extra element to the gameplay, and perhaps there could have been park rangers that will attack you if you appear in front of them. A couple of small additions like this could make it into an even cooler game!

Great job on the entry and keep making games!

Nice simple game to unwind with. I think the graphics in the main game could be improved though.

Nice idea, very original and good fit of the theme. For me, getting above 80% was easy, but could not reach 90%. Seemed that i was never able to convert the remaining people fast enough before popularity got down.

Despite similary looks, Jetty is now more popular than I have ever been. The last few percent are tough, I scratched 90% multiple times before reaching it.

I really liked the concept of the game, it's very creative and humorous. :) I thought the gameplay was creative as well, but it got a little tiring towards the end (popularity 80%+), I couldn't understand exactly how the popularity was behaving at this point, lol. I missed a little variety through the progression of the game and also some sound effects. But as I said, the concept and theme was very fun, congrats!

Great job!

The idea is really good and very well executed. I love the visuals, and seeing those small people move is very satisfying.

Towards the end, it gets really tiring very fast. Maybe the win condition should be lowered for a simple fix, or think of something smarter to keep it interesting past the cool mechanic discovery and awesome art.

Thanks for the game :snowman:
