Solid art!

Where can I buy some of these jets and buildings for cheap :eyes:

I ended up buying a bunch of jets from the get-go and later on spamming buildings.

@ssstormy Thanks! Yeah, maybe should have put more effort into balancing the game

Nice! But for some reason The audio stops playing, but i guess that's due to the lag. And sometimes the jets chase each other they form a circle and be like that for a while.

Very nice, so satisfying to see your city grow and to watch the air battles

I really love your game ! Simple but very efficient
Is this some sort of boids algorithm you made the the ships ?

Great entry !

@brenan Thank you! I've experimented with boids behaviour before so you could say its loosely based on that yes

There is something satisfying about building the city and seeing the jets fighting, however there are a few things that I regret :
- there is actually no gameplay, you can just randomly buy buildings and jets and it will work
- you can't really see what is going on during an attack, the camera rotation limit is too tight, there are no statistics like current enemies alive, currently owned jets, etc. which could make it feel more like a game where you have control on what you do
- maybe having more enemies (like bigger jets with more damages, nothing too long to setup but that could add a lot to the game) would have been great

But overall I liked it and the idea might be simple, but is well executed and efficient. The game runs smoothly (even if sometimes the music crashed?), the boids system is neat, good job!

Neat game. Its a good base if you wanted to expand it. I like the idea of the AI ships protecting the city! was fun to watch.

I think I got to the point where I couldn't buy any more buildings, and was making so much money that I couldn't spend even close to all of it before the next wave started lol. It seemed to hold up decently with all those ships on screen, although it did get a little laggy. Overall pretty good game, could have used more variety though, like maybe toss in buying turrets, or have the enemies attack the buildings sometimes instead of the ships, or have like bigger enemies come in that can throw you for a loop, or something?

Really good game :) I enjoyed watching my city grow. It might be nice if it was clearer what was happening in the air battles. But overall really fun!

The idea is good but the game is a bit overly simplistic.

great game but once you get enough jets the game becomes very glitchy and maybe add different types of jet that are more expensive to make the game more enjoyable. but apart from that the art is great and the music is very good

I liked the idea, but I think it needs a little work. I think making it more expensive to buy buildings as the player progresses could help keep gameplay more balanced. Also, I had a hard time telling the difference between the jets and the aliens.

Great concept and a lot of fun to watch the jets fight it out over your city. I feel like the difficulty curve is too easy. I quickly realized I was far outpacing the waves of enemies, and it didn't take long to get to a point where I was not able to buy enough stuff in the time before the next wave to even spend the money I was making. I also noticed that as I ramped up on jets, the audio would clip out on the WebGL version, and eventually the game actually crashed due to how many jets I had fighting it out. I've included a screenshot to show you where the game eventually ground to a halt. Hope it helps.

I'd love to see an unfolding mechanic where you go from buying buildings to whole blocks, and maybe have different types of jets or even anti-aircraft get introduced. Lots of possibilities, and I'd love to see you keep pulling this thread and expand on what you have.

i love the idea, having an exciting dogfight happen every once in a while would certainly be better then most combat we've gotten in city builders in the past
visuals are simple but nice and while the gameplay is quite minimal and easy i'd rather that then it being too hard

Very addictive gameplay! It lacks some difficulty but it makes great player experience! I also love that art style. Good work!

I liked the game. It is very satisfying to watch how your town growns and I admit boids are pretty cool here! :D
The game was bit too chaotic for my taste. I would suggest to make camera more free because now not all fight can be seen.
Solid entry ;)

Thank you guys for all your great suggestions! I agree with all of them. I actually thought I made the game too hard but here I go underestimating peoples gaming skills again.

Will definitely continue this project when I have time!
