Decay by Andrew Roulst

Place flowers to redirect bolts of light into plants to revive them. Screen Shot 2020-04-20 at 2.50.11 PM 3.png

Plants will protect a 3x3 area around themselves from decay, so spread them out as far as you can. Screen Shot 2020-04-20 at 2.17.57 PM.png

The more tiles you protect from decay, the longer the area will survive. Screen Shot 2020-04-20 at 2.27.38 PM.png

Once you have enough green areas you can research upgrades to improve your plants and slow the decay. Capture.PNG

Instructions on how to play:

Use the plants in your inventory to help redirect the bolts of light that come from the emitter plant. Any plants or debris that is on the map at the start of the level can not be moved or picked up. Once you have placed your plant's press space and it will ask if you are ready and when you accept the bolts of light will emit from the emitter flower. All areas on the map are randomly generated so some plants may be difficult or impossible to revive. You don't have to revive every plant on a level, you just have to revive as many as you can to slow the decay in that area.

Plants functions:

Emitter flower - fires bolts of light in all four directions.

Sunflower - has no abilities.

Splitter flower - when revived it will fire bolts of light in all four directions.

Mirrors - when hit with bolts of light they will bounce off and redirect.

Sunflower rock - same as sunflower.

Large rock and tall stumps - will stop beams of light.

Small rocks and short stumps - has no function.

This is beautiful!! I really love the art! It took a bit of getting used to the mechanics to figure out the puzzles, but it's both technically and artistically really well made! I spent quite a while playing and trying to do things as efficiently as possible!

This is the most creative game I've seen this far. Congrats on this amazing game. I would liked if the controls were e shown in the game at launch though. But otherwise really really fun!

Not being able to retry in a puzzle game is wierd, but i love the high concept

Maybe I'm dumb, but I had a lot of trouble figuring out what was what. The light emitter looks like a flower, and how do I know how well I'm doing? I had some levels with only 1 flower to place and 2 mirrors, an no way to know if I was doing it right. I'd like to see a bit more tutorial.

Really cool concept, and good job with the art! The goal was a bit confusing for me, but I think I worked it out in the end.

It's hard when everything is randomly generated and that you can clearly see that a level is nearly impossible ahah. BUT it's pretty well done and I'm sure others will succeed more than I did ahah!

Loved the NES styled cover art! I couldn't grasp the goal of the game in the little time I had to try it, but it was fun to poke arround with its different systems regardless :)

At first the game was really hard to understand, but after I realized how to play it went much better. However, the angle from the crystals to redirect bolt were a bit difficult to visualize. Congrats on your game, good job.

Uh oh... this game is too much fun... I sank an hour and a half playing this?!?! It's too good, I love the puzzle elements, and the upgrades in the menu are really cool. I loved the slow drip of extra plants that you got given for the levels, it felt awesome when you had enough plants to pretty much cover the board! One thing that sucked was on one level, I had a huge system where sun was pinged across the map multiple times, and the level timed out before the whole chain reaction was finished. Otherwise I really enjoyed this game, this is the longest I've spent on any one LD game, and for a good reason: the game is outstanding! Well done!
