A minute and a half by brokenVectors

[raw]
made by brokenVectors for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

I made this game in less than 24H. I hope you like it! https://brokenvectors.itch.io/a-minute-and-a-half

WASD to move, and click to water the plants.

Water the plants before they die! If one of them dies, you get an F-. If nobody dies, you get an A+!

Keep in mind that I have playtested this game, and it is possible.

fun fact: i made the font on the cover image

Post Jam Updates: * Fixed movement

I was just making text games at 11! Congrats on your submission.
I made it about 60 seconds before a plant died, I had trouble watering Joe particularly because I felt I could water plants better if I was standing farther away from them. I wouldn't mind getting partial credit for keeping some alive, I thought I did pretty good!

Quick reminder to get more players: Use a thumbnail for your game. Otherwise your game is presented with this grey box. Some great Games are not played because of a missing thumbnail ... You can still change it by editing your submission page :)

Good work and not a bad game. I was able to water some of the plants through walls, and sometimes it felt like I was clipping into walls making it hard to move. Nice music.

Congrats on finishing the game. Controls are a bit funky and watering is sometimes off but it is playable

Nice job, it has a kinda frantic pace for a plant-watering game Ahah. At first it was a bit confusing that you have to stay at a specific distance to water them, but then I got it. Also I like how each plant has a name :D

Cool game, pretty difficult. I couldn't save all plants. ;_;

@brachistosauro Haha, one of the intentions of the game was to make you as anxious as possible!

Also, am I allowed to make updates for the game after the deadline? I want to fix the movement but I don't want to be disqualified.

Nice game! I started unity when I was 11(am 13 now). It would be nice if the look controls were a bit less sensitive and had y movement, but overall this is a really cool entry. Nice work!

Cool game, I wonder why there are so many games about watering plants to keep them alive this jam haha

Well done! The difficulty level was nice, it was challenging enough to be fun. The controls were a bit clunky, but other than that it was a good game!

Pretty good game in concept, but the level feels really cramped and the controls seem a bis sensitive for that. Really good concept, and with a tiny bit of more relaxed level design this could be an amazing game! Great work!

This game would have been fun, if you used all the time given to you in Jam. The wall clipping should be fixed. Walls look exactly the same, thus disorienting the player. The controls are too sensitive, in updated version. Watering mechanics work weirdly - sometimes the player is close to the flower and it gets some water, sometimes not. In adition, the combination of sensitive controls, bright colors and disorientation made me feel sick. Try to utilize all 72 hours given next time and you will sure create much better game.

@martin183 Wonder why I see your comment right after watching "Leon" movie. Huh. Actually, never thought about that, but this jam is 99% Leon-proof with all those plant saving simulators

This was a fun concept :) I enjoyed the names all the plants have. The difficulty level was well calibrated. I think making the water work a bit more intuitively would have improved the game a lot.

Hey, i played on the html version. The controls are too sensitive, it's quite difficult to move around at first. But considering your young age i'm impressed! The concept is quite simple but everything works, there is a goal, it's quite dynamic. Maybe before making games in 3D it would be easier to make 2D games ? (Well do as you want!) Anyways, keep going with making games, you can only be better with time!

The game is very impressive for your age. Appreciate that) Maybe you can add wells to refill water to make the game a bit more diverse. Probably, some more particles that emit from plants when you water them for some impact.

I see what you mean with bright colors, I actually did the color choices at night while using fl.ux. I should have turned it off!

Okay, on my second run, I noticed there is an optimal path where you can reach most of the flowers - and that you can water flowers, through other flowers - and I loved discovering ways to optimize my water (I think Marge can be watered through the wall). I do think the corridors are a bit narrow - but honestly, I am amazed at the responsiveness of the game - I still have difficulty making healthbars. This is absolutely really solid and amazing that you could make all of this, I am not being facetious, really great job.

A really solid entry and absolutely amazing for someone with that amount of experience. I had lots of fun, thank you for your entry!

Here's your harsh criticism:
1. I don't know why you can't look up and down a bit.
2. It was hard to predict how/when the water actually hits the plant without running back and forth.
3. The white walls could have been rows of small green shrubs or something else you can see over.
4. Mouse sensitivity is a bit high for me.
5. The "Linux" download link leads me to a windows.exe (but the html version worked so no big deal, just annoying)

I have no idea how this is supposed to be possible, I keep getting stuck into walls and at some point I somehow managed to get out of the maze and then it was impossible to get in again. Also, can’t we have grades between A+ and F- if we save some plants?
But for only 24h and being 11, it’s definitely a good start!
