Nice work!
The level design deserves a special mention. It's really good and must be something that's difficult to get right.
I feel like you guys have played all the classic jump n runs and took only the best out of everything. The game reminds me of some but as I said, only of the good parts of those games. That is not to say that you are copy-catting anything, your game just fits nicely with my fond memories and it is a really unique and top-playable, top-polished game. The length was actually really great for a Ludum Dare entry.
Great job, keep up the good work and I am looking forward to your future creations!
The mechanics / mechanisms in the levels are pretty neat, too.
I had one moment where I got kind of stuck on the side/corner of a block in a weird way, but for the most part the controls were surprisingly solid.
Also felt a bit disconnected from the theme (as you're keeping "yourself", rather than "it", alive).
Overall, Very impressive!
It would've been nice with a couple of frames of leeway where you can still jump after touching the ground, though. Maybe there's some sort of input delay in the web player, but I often fell off of platforms where I felt that I had actually pressed jump.
Loved the art style and music, and a nice variety of short levels, expecially for a jam game. I feel that there is so much to be done with the 'battery' theme if you ever think to extend this game further.
The chiptune music is great, and the same-key sound effects work extremely well (the dying sound keeps sounding pleasant, even if I've heard it dozens of times!)
The player controls are solid and responsive, it's a real joy to play!
I have one minor remark about the level design, which definitely doesn't like the theme very much :-)
Maybe longer levels, with more battery recharge spots?
Anyway, great entry ; thanks from a megaman fan!
great art and funky music. Fun game!
