Feed The Flame(s) by Jeremia

[raw]
made by Jeremia for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

You have just made a bonfire in wildernis where mountains are looming in the distance.
Now you want to keep it alive, no matter the cost.

Controls:

  • WASD or arrow keys to move
  • E,R,F,T or P to pick up and drop items except for gasoline (they all do the same)
  • 1, 2 and 3 to make time (and you) run faster

There are two things you can strive for:

  • Making the most simultaneous flames.
  • Keeping the fire alive for the longest amount of time.

Programming was done by me.
Art was done by my two younger sisters.

It really hooked me! Feels really good to play but could use some optimisation because burning the grass really made my FPS drop !

Creative idea, and it's funny because you're keeping the campfire alive but is burning the forest down lol
Easy gameplay, plays smooth.
Some sound effects when using the items would have been nice!

Funny premise. Something hilarious about the same fire sprite just wreaking havoc over the whole world

Cool Game! I loved the idea of the gasoline leaving a trail behind you can light on fire, I think this would make a great mechanic for a puzzle game! :D I think some crackling sound for the fire would have been a cool addition, as well as a way to retrieve the gasoline after having it pushed to the edge of the map. But nonetheless a funny entry :)

the flame mechanic is fun! finding the gasoline was a nice surprise.

With some more engaging core loop and a more polished art style it could be a good stand-alone game.

Nice game.
The chill music gives an odd feeling of being a true pyromaniac.
However, during the game there was some moment that I was not sure what I was supposed to do, if keeping one live for as long as possible, or burn everything as fast as possible.
It was fun.

Fun and satisfying! Music gets a bit repetitve but I enjoyed burning the world down! Like the art style - would love to see more animations if you develop it further!

Cool game! Your two younger sisters made a good job on art, and you made an excellent execution of your idea!

P.S. I think main player is on floating island :D

10/10 would play again. Art was nice, but just add walking animations to the character.

There's no motivation to do anything, and causing 400 instances of fire to appear in the world lags the game. But the fire chaining between flammable objects is cathartic, and it made me chuckle at first, but there's nothing to it after that.

We just made a "post-jam" update for our game, including:
- more FPS
- Animations for the protagonist.
