The pain by pfeyffer

made by pfeyffer for Ludum Dare 46 (COMPO)

It was a struggle this time. The game mechanics took me a lot longer to implement than I had expected and I had to scrap a lot of drawings until I was happy with the art style. sketches.jpg There are some glitches when rotating a device while drawing a path. Enjoy the pain.

A truly unique, challenging, and nauseating puzzler. I admire your commitment to body horror.

Now that's something you don't see often :)

And it's a puzzle game even! Really nice, it would really benefit from nice sound effects. Scream in agony! ;)

Wow. I cannot understand how does this relate to the theme, but it's very original. Not enough weird sounds to completely immerse :)

Wow, this was horrifying (in the best possible way). I liked the graphical style and the puzzles were of a nice difficulty - I made it to the end without feeling like the experience was too easy or too hard. One feature that I think would have been really nice would be if you could draw pieces of paths without connecting to either heart - sometimes I could reason about exactly how some sub-path had to go, and it would have been nice to record that. Nicely done.

Well done overall, if a bit, uh... well, it's a good game. With a little polish it could be truly horrifying.

This is great! I am also so glad that there are no sound effects :) Clever puzzle idea and I think it fits the theme in a nice and unique way!

Cool game. It took me awhile to beat all the puzzles. Interesting setting choice too. Good job!

@madbarron Yeah, I always want to add sound effects to my games but I always run out of time. The puzzles are solvable. The last two are fiendishly difficult though.

Awesome puzzle game. It would be more interesting if there was sound. And maybe it's just me but I didn't understand "Mouth needs to be connected on one side, noses two, and eyes three" at first so I was doing trial and errors in the first two levels until I realized what that instruction meant.

Ow :p What a theme. It is really well made. Your puzzle concept is very good.

Creepy visuals and simple but good puzzle idea. I don't see quite how pain and alive and hearts and blood connect to the theme but interesting game idea nonetheless.

I didn't understand the instructions so I didn't get very far, but I found the art haunting (in a good way) and it looks like the premise and concept has potential. Some gooey sfx would really make the mood but I understand it's compo and compo is really, really hard.

Have you played The Witness? This feels like a horror version of one of those puzzles. Well made and the art is great. Good job!

Very interesting puzzles, and some of them surprisingly difficult given how simple the idea is. Well done!
