Our sister game. :) Thumbs up from one "running around on a planet with a temperature bar" team to another.

All I get on Web Unity (ubuntu) is a black screen with UI stuff on it, though. The game doesn't seem to be working for me.

love the graphics and the atmosphere of the game. Could use more gameplay mechanics like maybe a shovel or something to dig for the crystals or climbing rocks.

I loved the walking animation

Outstanding visuals, and nice audio. The gameplay is solid, I like the sun/shade mechanic and how the different items to collect relate to the sun in different ways. I don't see much connection with the theme but it's very well made nonetheless, good work!

Great job! Loved the visuals and the animations of the astronaut. I felt like the astronaut's pick-up animation could have been a bit quicker, but that's a minor note. I also really liked the look of the trippy purple skybox in particular.

Great submission, loved the planet hopping and the art style was very good. The gradual introduction of new elements was a good addition too, it's a nice way to introduce the player to the rules. I think the pickup animation could have been a little faster to match up with the snappyness of the rest of the controls.
Nice work!

- UI looks great. Like the styling of the big text and the death cards/images being unique for each way you die.
- Texture work on the 3D assets is good too, the runes on the rocks look cool.
- Spacey Soundtrack is well suited for the game
- Animations of the character are a nice touch too.
- Mechanics are very well done, using the hot and cold of the planet to cook things and melt water is a neat idea.

I would say the pickup animation could be quicker, its a bit frustrating to watch them pick something up slowly as a licky monster is approaching.

Great job guys.

Really nifty little game (and highly addictive). Everything felt amazingly sooth and polished for a JAM game. The last level was a tad frustrating, but I got there in the end.

If anything could be improved, I'd say the pick up action is a little bit precious sometimes, and could be more forgiving, and sometimes due to the nature of the FoV the little creatures blindside you if they're coming from below - also had some very high floating chicken issues, and some wobbles with the creatures getting stuck in their loops/becoming hard to lure. But honestly, the problems were miniscule. I played it for wayyy too long. Fantastic work!

Great game here. I really like the graphics and game idea.
Soundeffects could have been slightly better, since it sometimes seemed to be very low quality. The soundtrack itself fits good to the game and creates a very nice atmosphere.
Sometimes i had to rotate and move very often to get the crystal-grab triggered.

Very interesting game! Sadly, level 3 was too hard and I wasn't able to get past it. I feel like with a bit more time to balance the game it could improve a lot. I like the footsteps sound effect, and the astronaut's walking animation looks very funny. It's nice how you have a little intro sequence of how you land on the planet. Great job!

"I... I just played that in my browser?" The times we live in, man...

This is all things considered just a beautifully well executed game. Great art for the short amount of time, great sound design, fun and challenging gameloop. I love this!

If I were to nickpick and change one thing though it would be to change the "input" method for confirming things to either the mouse click or the space bar and thus unifying the control scheme (seeing how the game does not use the mouse anywhere else, I'd go for the spacebar). That is however gripe at a high level, but I couldn't find any other flaws :'D Fantastic job you did there. Thank you for making this gem of jamgame <3

As others have said before, this is really really well done, especially considering the time frame. Great team effort! I always wanted to give the "walking around a planet"-gameplay a shot myself (of course on a much lower level though ;) ) - "Need more Space" just has become sort of the benchmark for that. Music, UI design (the arrow pointing back to the rocket!), graphics (Colors, lighting, art like the engraved rocks), the walking animation and controls,... there's so much great stuff here!

Oh man, I love the dying animation on the character, ha! Seriously great work on the 3D modelling, and the music is serene as well! It reminded me a little bit of Pikmin if you were to remove Pikmin from it and Olimar had to do everything himself. Super cool game all around!

Nice, that was actually well made and polished! The art really stood out, nice graphics, models and animations. The game play was fluid and the looping planet worked great. At first I was a bit lost due to having no heat source, but of course, I just had to get to the warm side of the planet :) The progression of the levels was a good idea as well. I had only one issue: Using space to consume did not work most of the time. My character just stood there and did nothing. One time I got him to drink the water he hold, but the next level, it didn't work anymore and I died :( Sound and Music was snappy as well! Good job all in all

@tino hello for the walking sound ı used rice. I filled some rice in a plastic bag to get a coarse ground sound. For freazing sound ı used the same plastic bag and rice, twist them infront of the mic. For the sound that comes after refilling the spaceship with crystals, ı used two recordings of "old cd player buttons", 2 synth riser effect, 1 very high frequency riser, and a kitchen alarm. I used shure sm58 gor recording. Thanks for the lovely comments everyone.

09. Oct 2020 · 14:15 UTC
Nice stuff guys. The character and it's animations are great, and the gameplay, especially with the temperature mechanic is quite interesting and the atmosphere is good. The difficulty definitely ramps up on level 3!

I would say, it's quite difficult to handle the chicken monsters and to heard them to the hot side. They tend to float around you and go off screen, where you can't tell if they're still following you, or if they're about to pop in and kill you.

Another minor frustration, you use spacebar to start the level, but the restart after death button has to be clicked. It would be nice if this could use spacebar too.

That being said, great idea and really nice execution. Good job :D

Cute little planets exploration game with interesting death mechanics. Lacks a bit in objectives clarity as I did understood the context, but the objectives seemed to be written in a hurry, making it hard to immerse further (gramatically especially). Needs some polishing from visuals perspective in some areas, however I loved the way you guys made death-posters and the astronaut character itself. Keep up the good work!

Heyo!

Feel free to ignore most of the things I point out due to jam scope, etc, but I’m giving feedback assumming you would keep working in the game. The rating I gave was with the jam context in mind though.

What I think could be improved:

Some way to "scan" items that I need that are out of view, I had a run that I couldn't find any ice cubes before running out of water
I think there should be a more obvious indicator showing wheter you are in the hot or cold zone of the planet, an arrow in the temperature bar showing what is going on could solve this
Regarding the theme of the jam, I didn't really see much match with the theme

What I loved:

The concept art around the page is amazing!
Using the sides of the planet illuminated by the star is really smart
Cute animations and models

If my comment was helpful, don’t forget to like it! … and if you can, open my profile page and leave feedback on our game as well <3

Thanks for the experience you provided with your game!

Very nice entry!

The graphics are awesome, it's very impressive what you guys achieved in so little time, the animations are so cute! The audio sets the mood very well too.
Nice UI indications of temperature, it reminded me of *Don't Starve*.
The arrow indicating the direction of the ship was a very good addition, maybe if it helped to locate the ice cubes it would be even better! Because I was suffering to find them haha, died a lot from dehydration =(

I had some issues though: The screen kept shaking while I walked, maybe because of the irregular surface? The hitbox to pickup items could be a bit larger, I lost many precious seconds trying to pick nearby items. There were some food that stayed very high up and I couldn't pick it up.

Besides the small issues, it was a very fun and beautiful experience! Great game!

Nice game! One of the more polished ones I've seen this ludum. The chicken things would sometimes get stuck and not fall to the ground after being cooked so I could not pick them up. Also for extra polish you could smooth out the run animation when changing directions instead of instantly turning. Great game overall!

Very well done, excellent art, UI and atmosphere! I enjoyed it, but struggled a bit against the licky monsters!

Others have also mentioned it, but the pickup animation felt a little bit slow, I think I would have liked if I could just run over an item to automatically pick it up! I would rather throw it away then with a button.
