Keep IT Alive by anhel

made by anhel for Ludum Dare 46 (JAM)

Keep IT alive. Literally.

Control water streams to make them bring the paper boats into your den to catch kids. Every time the kid escapes you loose one life point. Try to keep IT alive as long as you can.

Good entry! Fun concept. Some of the sounds were a bit rough.
Nice one!

When trying to launch the game I get
```call_indirect to a null table entry (evaluating 'Module["asm"]["Hi"].apply(null,arguments)')```
I won't be evaluating badly because of it. Don't know if its an issue on my sad or a bad upload. Try and look into it.
This was really well done, i like how it all fits together. At first i though that the game would be very easy, but it quickly get very stressful and challenging.
Really tight game ! I really enjoyed how you learn how to play the game organically, without having to read instructions or refer to a command list. The controls were really water-tight, and made for a fun and addicting game.
Strenghts :
- Great gameplay, taught organically to the player
- Cleverly designed level
- Consistent graphics
Possible improvements :
- the first few seconds are a bit obtuse
All in all, excellent work !
Very interesting concept. I like how you took the challenge literally :)
Game is very smooth, and well designed. My one gripe is I don't like how the direction of the streams automatically revert. I think it would be better to give the player a reason to change the direction of the stream, rather than be constantly resetting it back to the initial state.
The gameplay and the level are really nicely done. The mechanics are simple but fun. I can imagine a game made of this kind of mini-levels, with different mechanics (for example, avoiding some kind of object instead of redirecting them to it).
Nice job overall!
I love this haha. As someone who used to repeatedly say "Hello, Georgie, would you like a balloon?" for months after watching the movie, this is priceless lol :)
The nitty gritty:
Everything is quite well done! I like the music, it's super appropriate, the sound fx are a little basic but it's ok it's retro look fits imo. The twist on the theme is ridiculously good (I'd give you 6 there if I could lol). Gameplay is pretty self explanatory and doesn't need a lot more intro but for some reason I wasn't aware my paths were switching off the first time through, figured it out later.
Anyway, great job with this, and best of luck :)
Hey! I like the concept, it is small but great. About the theme, is funny, because we have made a game inspired by IT too. Take a look for IT. Hahaha. Our game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/keeping-it-alive-1
Oh, it's really neat. A bit overwhelming, but, I guess, that's the point. The only real issue I have is with the water animation. It's too noisy, so it's difficult to look at for a long period of time
Ohhhh! I get it now. First I had no idea why IT eats paper planes, and why these small people are running around, and why the water always changes back in random ways. Now I feel stupid and it all makes sense. :)
Great that you didn't feel the need (and rightfully so) to explain everything in the game using text but just let the player learn on their own. Even if it took me a minute to see it through, it was a nice experience. Well done! Only reached a highscore of 1500 though, which I assume isn't all that much.
Interesting concept, but veeery stressful :) had trouble keeping the boats afloat after the first 5 or 6. It's very hard to keep track of the boats and the water directions. Art und Music fits well und control wise everything works flawlessly. Good job!
I love concept and graphics and the music fits. And I was like: "Oh, someone really did this - and it looks like IT as well!" Also you took one of the most iconic scenes! Sadly I do not like that kind of game - too stressful for me ;-)
But good job anyway!
Great concept! I like this railway switch kind of mechanics. Looks and sounds pretty spooky. Also, wery well done in-game credits, which is rare for a game jams. :thumbsup:
Ahahah can I just not keep IT alive and instead kill it with fire? This a pretty funny and dark little game :D Cool mechanic too. It got pretty frantic near the end. Thanks!
I really enjoyed this game! I like how dark this game is, even if it came from the same inspiration, it is totally different from mine. Hahaha, by the way, we both use the same phrase to describe our games _"Keep IT alive literally". _ Which, as @delunado said, is really funny. If you want to float too, visit my game. Good job!
@bricegraulier Excuse for troubling, can you please tell what browser are you using? I've tried both in Chrome and Firefox (and in Chrome for Android as well), and can't reproduce the error.
