I had a lot of fun playing this. Really like the puzzle elements. The placing/controlling of objects didnt work for me properly a few times but those are just minor grievances. Cute art style and that was very catchy! Overall solid concept and the best games are those that you lose yourself in for a while. This one did just that

Wow !! This game is really polished. Everything looks and fells so fun. Puzzles are fun too. Only bad thing that I can say is you can't be sure if you placed the trampoline to the right place. Sometimes you place it to close and hit the wall, sometimes you place it to far and fall.

Brooooo... I didn't know Brackeys was done until I played your game. Bummer. Good for him, though; hopefully he finds some awesome stuff that he loves to do.

This game was tons of fun and put together very well. The music was simple but pleasant, there were a lot of interesting interactions between the puzzle pieces, and the graphics fit well. It was a bit annoying to have all of my progress on a puzzle reset when the guy *just barely* touches a gear, but a checkpoint system is probably a bit much to ask for in a weekend-long jam :)

Pretty good game, the puzzles were good in a lot of ways, especially in the sense that there's a lot of ways to solve each puzzle. My only complaints is that I wish you got to keep your attempt layout in the level instead of everything getting set back when you die, and that it looks a bit messy with the different sprite pixel sizes. But overall a very good puzzle game.

Man, your game is the same as the game of [this guy](https://vimlark.itch.io/make-the-way), why?

Actually I don't like platformers, but this game has so good graphics, so I played it and really liked, mechanics are pretty simple, but I hope you will improve them in the future, luck <3!

A fun little game but sadly it seems like a direct imitation of a game from the GMTK Gamejam ["Make the Way" by Vimlark](https://vimlark.itch.io/make-the-way). In general there is nothing wrong with taking somebodies idea, but you should always add a sort of twist, which I am missing here. The graphics are quite neat though I have to say.

Style and aesthetics were great. Overall good jam. Although, I felt like the gameplay was pretty frustrating since between attempts of a level, it was mostly about tweaking the placements a little bit at a time. The actual puzzle part of figuring the path to take wasn't too difficult, but I found that the main difficulty came from knowing the player's speed and hurtbox. One recommendation I would make would be to respawn the player after they die, but keep the placements in the same place so that it doesn't feel as tedious. Also one other note, I felt like some audio can be toned down a bit. Especially the sound effect when the player turns after hitting a wall. Got really repetitive after awhile.

So much polish! I'm really impressed with this (also "f to pay respects" was pretty funny :joy:) it's a nice little puzzle game and really well polished. The graphics are wonderful, and the sound effects are really good. There's a good amount of juice, too. Well done!!

Super polished experience - looking very pretty with super solid gameplay mechanics and lots of levels.
The rewind effect after finishing a level looked especially fancy :)
I feel like you could charge money for this :P The only thing I would like to have in there would be some kind of checkmarks for already completed levels in the level selection screen.

I'm really impressed, even stunned, you put this together in such a short amount of time, you did a fantastic job!

Since it has been pointed out that this game is basically a copy of game from the GMTK jam I have to give it the lowest score for innovation and theme. I will say that it is a decently made clone of Back And Forth by Kisk.
I don't like the sound for when the character bounces off walls, especially when theres rapid bounces in succession. The hitboxes of the buzzsaws can also be misleading which causes some confusing deaths.
The skills are there, try to make something with your own ideas next time.

Solid game! easily the best art I have seen so far! My only concern is that although I know the solution to the puzzle, there is no clear indication of how high/low i should place the objects and it ends up being a trial and error over the same solution. I guess my recommendation would be to not expect a pixel-perfect execution from the player and have a lot of leeway on the placements of the platforms and obstacles! But hey thats just a theory. Super great game still!
06. Oct 2020 · 20:44 UTC
I am not sure what I should vote on, since the game seems like a exact copy of the game linked above, even using some graphical assets from it. And the graphics are from https://pixelfrog-store.itch.io/kings-and-pigs

I'm assuming this might be your first game jam, so it's nothing to worry about. We all start somewhere

Although next time it should be good to turn off voting on the categories that contain things you haven't created

The art was beautiful, the level design was interesting. I wish the placement of stuff did not reset, it was just frustrating. There were moments where I felt I solved the puzzle, but the grid and hitboxes just made me lose. I think this was a really good submission and I wish there was a but of snap-to-grid, and a few bug fixes. I can definitely see this as a successful game you can extend. This game is somewhere in between The Incredible Machine, and the Piggies angry birds game. I especially liked the levels that allowed me to solve them in multiple different ways, so I felt unique and clever. Thank you for the game!

Too bad it's a too direct copy of Vim's game. Did you ask their permission first? EDIT: Try making something from scratch (even the idea) next time, I promise you it will be rewarding!!! Don't lose hope! Keep trying! :)

Hey there ! Now I'm no authority at all to state this, but this was a bit over the top in my mind...

Great game but I do have to state something that was brought to my attention. You should have put this entry in unranked or at least opt out of several categories. You are being rated and received comments on the fact that the game looks polished (it completely does, I agree on that !), but that is not your achievement. Luckily you gave credit to the creator of the art (https://pixelfrog-store.itch.io/kings-and-pigs). But secondly, this is almost pro verbatim a copy of an existing entry in another recent jam, down to the UI and mechanics (https://vimlark.itch.io/make-the-way). Most of the level design is identical...

I am very happy to see you made a tribute and a proper game, but people should be aware what they are voting for. Someone else made this game and realistically, coming up with a proper idea and mechanics is the hardest part of a jam. The game design has nothing to do with your entry, nor does the art.

Sorry if it sounds harsh, I am usually of the principle that a game jam is about the journey of making a game, but this falls beyond that. By all means make games by copying, it's the exact best way to learn in fact... Just don't enter it in a ranking system where you're being put up against people who spent a full weekend and more doing all they can on the limit to finish a game.

Now that that's out of the way... Happy jamming everyone :)

@javasaurus totally agree with you, this is my first ludum dare ever, next time i probably need to get an idea from scratch rather than copying another game, but i added the rewind mechanic and the the walls that can be moved by clicking on them(if you play more u will find them), and please for everyone whos going to comment here don't tell me about copying vimlark idea thank you.

> and please for everyone whos going to comment here don’t tell me about copying vimlark idea thank you.

Well … I don't think that's how it works. I really do think that you should edit your game and change your entry to be in the "unranked" category, otherwise it should be disqualified (and you banned?). Well intended or not, it is extremely unfair to the other participants, who made their own game and their own graphics. It is also deceiving to the people here who have rated your game not knowing it is a copy.

I am 100% sure you knew this before submitting your game here and to streams for people to play them.

I love this take on the theme! It is always a fun change of pace when you control the environment instead of the character. Also these graphics are fantastic! What a great game, good job :)

*and please for everyone whos going to comment here don’t tell me about copying vimlark idea thank you.*

Well, if you didn't want to keep being told that you ripped someone off then you shouldn't have **stolen another person's intellectual property**. If you wanted to make a game with the same mechanics - great, make one, make your own levels, figure out your own puzzles.

What you did is not only unfair to other participants, it's extremely unfair to the creator of the original game. Not to mention it is a copyright breach (yeah, nobody will sue you here but that doesn't make it okay). And I'm quite sure you knew full well what you're doing.

By the way, you should have also opted out of graphics. You are using an asset pack and this graphics was **not created for the jam**. It is nice of you to credit the original author (but even here you do it sneakily, not providing the link to the actual asset pack but rather to author's twitter) but that still doesn't mean you should be rated in graphics.

This is not the game you made. This is a scam you made.

Goin' through some games to try to make the wait until April more bearable...

> ...and please for everyone whos going to comment here don't tell me about copying vimlark idea thank you.

You made a game inspired by Make The Way with some levels paying tribute to it. Yes, it does mean that Innovation took a hard hit, and people said you should have left Graphics since the graphics are from a free asset pack. You did leave credit, though.

But this does not justify people posting anonymously just so they can make fun of you without being discovered.

> ...This is a scam you made. - Anonymous

> ...you knew this... - Anonymous

> ...ripped off... - Anonymous

The above quotes: that's just overly harsh hypocrisy. I mean, most game developers started out making some sort of remix of an existing game to learn how games work, and then they mock those who do/did the same. You're new to this, I get that! I mean, my first decent games were remixes of things such as Pong, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros, etc. Saying that this is a guiltless ripoff of Make The Way is inaccurate, that's like saying that every platformer ever is a ripoff of Super Mario Bros if it has a world, enemies, and a goal. And I like how you paid tribute to Make The Way by recreating some levels.

My advice: ignore that garbage from people who are trying to mock you and make you unhappy. **You made a game all by yourself.** I sincerely hope you continue to do game development! (Just maybe try changing things up a little if you pay tribute to a game. It's not like it's a crime to do it though.)
