Does the keygen take a long time to open or something? I got stuck there. Otherwise, really cool game!

Super dope entry, I love the idea! Took some runs to get used to, but the way all of the elements of desktop apps were implemented was genius. High marks all around.

Hey! Such a creative take on the theme. I really liked this concept and the way it was presented. Sound design and mechanics were on point, as well as the 1-bit style. Great work there. It took me a little while to figure out how to deal with things like renaming the file, and I thought that was a really inventive solution to the problem. I think keeping all of the mechanics within that desktop interaction space would have been perfect. I wish I could place the rockets in the recycling bin :( Still, really innovative entry, thanks for sharing.

Really good game! I thoroughly enjoyed it and admired the depth it has. All the icons have a purpose rather than show. The colour scheme change was cool especially. I really like the graphics and perfect use of the best sound in computing history. It felt really good to play (like a real operating system) and you felt you really were waging war against a virus while being just on the desktop. All the mechanics from stopping the deletion, moving the file, renaming the file, all work so well together! I would add a difficulty setting, some more randomness in the level, a quicker start, and a soundtrack that increases in intensity. Overall, incredible effort and I have rated this game very highly! One of the best I have played out of my 100+ so far! Fantastic!

I absolutely loved this XD. The UI was amazing and the sound effects for everything were so nostalgic. However, the game feels unnecessarily hard at times. Some windows would end up overlapping making it difficult to find them again which would lead to a gameover and I wouldn't know why. Also, the time given for the player to react is a little too low IMO.Still, it's an awesome game as is and I'm definitely keeping it after the jam.

Loved the looks, concept and presentation! It is really hard, though. Also it broke when I enabled fullscreen, lol

Was there a win condition? I gave up after getting the key and then immediately getting bombarded by popups... If it wasn't as unforgiving I actually would have wanted to play much more of this!

Nice idea, the concept is very fun but I had lots of problems: the hitboxes were very weird, I had to click in the left part of the icons to move them. I never passed through the rename file part because I'm very used to hit "F2" to rename a file in my computer and when I press it on the game, the screen gets very small haha, it's confusing.

When I reopened the game and managed to click on the rename button, it didn't go automatically to the box where I write the name. I had to click on it to start typing, which is weird. I loved the idea, the audio and the graphics but I think the gameplay was a bit off.

Nice game. Mechanics are simple but quite unique, interesting take on the theme as well. I wish difficulty would ramp up slower tho, it took awhile to familiarize myself with how the game works but at the very start I already had a lot of pop ups and other malware.

Also, don't forget to rate and comment on other games. You'll barely get any ratings otherwise

What a creative and cool concept - I would NEVER have thought of that. I dig the 1-bit visuals, but as the above commentor, I also had a bit of problem with the hitboxes. But 5 stars for originality.

Great stuff! The graphics and mood remind me of OS's like Mac OS Classic. The game was nicely challenging and had cute desktop-related ideas. The level of difficulty is fair, but I think I would still appreciate a slower start and the opportunity to explore the desktop a bit, read the e-mails, get used to everything. In terms of UI, I guess you could argue that less parcticality is good, since it adds challenge. Even so, it was strange that the game is trying to emulate an OS but lacks some very common (even in the 90's) features, e.g. double click to open, slower double click to rename. I kind of wished I could just delete the rockets! For the keygen part I had to look at the screenshots. What threw me off was the fact that the browser could not be opened with a double click, so I assumed it just does not work. Would be great to expand this somehow to have levels, a progression, a much deeper featureset in the OS, etc.

omg... what a thrill. "OS simulator" is a game genre that is very close to my heart, and to have such a fast-paced "action"-y take on it is very refreshing and stimulating.

I'm afraid I had a hard time clicking around accurately, mostly just because the screen size was so small. I switched from trackpad to mouse and had a slightly easier time of it; then I also tried playing this on an aperture-grille CRT from 1999 at 640x480 and had an even better experience with the graphics :D 

(As I'm writing this comment, I scrolled up and found that there are indeed screen size options... oops!!)

For such a fast-paced game, it also would have been nice if the windows were more responsive.

Such a cool game! I loved everything about it! It is a bit too hectic for me, I can't keep track of so many things, and it took me forever to figure out how to get past laserclean...

But seriously this is a super solid game jam entry and I hope you might turn it into a full game!

This is amazing! A unique approach, and you managed to make it both beautiful and fun. Clean black and white graphics reminded me a lot of an early Macintosh OS, one mini vMac emulates. That keygen music was on point, jumpscared the hell out of me, as it should :D

I'd only suggest you add the controls for screen size to the description! Didn't know there was an option for that until I scrolled through the comments (it's F2-F4 keys, if anybody's wondering)
