Hi,

so, this is my second participation (submission) in Ludum Dare jam. However, this time, I started really late (~Sunday afternoon), after not doing any gamedev for.. pretty much since LD43!

It was a blast, this is my first 2D game in Unity and I gotta say, as 2D newbie, the 2D workflow that Unity offers is pretty cool and easy to understand (the basics, at least!). I'm really sorry that there are no sound effects in the game, and that the "story" is short (I wanted player to be able to marry a wife, have kids, invest into fantasy stocks), but time was, in fact, the enemy. (Planescape: Torment anyone?)

I hope you'll like it anyway.. I'll reserve more time for LD46, that's for sure!

Controls:

WASD for movement SPACE for attack ENTER to interract with sign

PS: Will be donating to the sprite authors! Believe it or not, these sprites can be downloaded for free https://pipoya.itch.io/pipoya-rpg-tileset-32x32 . And that is totally cool!

I couldn't get the game to run? It just crashes on start.

@cipery The WebGL version works, thanks!

There's some weird seams between the tiles when walking around sometimes, and your health can drop to -1 without dying. It's also pretty hard to actually hit the ghosts without taking massive damage yourself.

Otherwise I like the idea of building a house out of the cash earned from adventuring! If you want to develop this further, could be cool if the enemies drop ingredients that need to be sold or repurposed first, instead of directly dropping gold.

I'ts a shame you had to start late to the jam caus i see that you could've done soooo much more with the game than it actually is right now.
I really can see potential in your work and i could see myself playing it again.
Nice finding of the sprites, they are really nice and made the game look amazing.
I would like to have seen more interactive things in the game since the map is kinda big.
This little thing here https://prnt.sc/pisydw that I can walk over the statues but not over some flowers I think wasn't that looked into. I tried going around them, but always ended on top of them, like they were paintings on the ground and the same thing happened to the scarecrows, which i think I actually wouldn't be able to reach because of the crops around them.
The hitbox for the ghouls doesn't seem that fair, cause the dash of the main character seems that you need to be kinda too close to his enemies to attack, but as i was walking along the map the things were hitting me in a range i thought it wasn't possible, which led me into thinking they weren't showing their atual range of attack.
but these are some little tweaks that could improve the gameplay a lot. the overall game itself is really nice, just need a little polishing, in the future, like you said, a bigger story and more than just 3 golden coins to buy king-like furniture.
Good job!!
