DataHunter by A_ColtZz

In this game you try to survive by collecting data chips and destroying/avoiding the drones who are after your data. You play as the Data hunter which goes jumping around (and shooting) in the cyber net world.
(Edited) Hey there I am seeing a lot of great comments about the Art and Music, Those two I opted out of because they were assets I used and mixed together I had a busy work schedule during the time of the game jam and couldn't make my own assets. If people are interested give them a cool review on their Unity pages and try them out yourselves. I don't like getting credit for work I didn't do. The only shapes in this game that I made are the ones for the menu and pause menu and stuff.
- Cyberpunk style art: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/environments/warped-city-assets-pack-138128
- Music: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/audio/music/free-cyberpunk-vol-1-music-pack-165610
Note: It was still a challenge to make everything and having to connect the animations to the input. And it took longer than I expected to code everything that is happening like the flying cars in the BG and other cool stuff you see. Then again please visit the unity page guys and show them the love I get here. Couldn't have made it more possible without them.

The first two things I noticed upon loading up the game were a) how awesome the background music was, and b) how responsive the gameplay felt (the audio and visual response when enemies get shot is really awesome). I thought the rain falling down onto all of the tiles was a really nice touch, too.
All in all, I think you definitely have a lot of potential with what you have here; everything feels complete, and if there were more levels or an underlying story to what was going on, I think you could safely call this a more-or-less complete game. :) Keep up the great work!
The music is great! Also made before hand? I would have loved the music to be louder than the sound effects, the jump sound effect was starting to get on my nerve at the end haha!
Overwall it is still a very nice entry, looking great, feeling great and working great, especially considering you were alone, congrats! :)
What i disliked is Jumping on the W Button. It took me a moment to get used to it.
Overall a nice, but very short game.
* It's a small file and it's nicely hosted on itch.io (seriously, thank you!)
* Your user interface is clean and super cool, and the tutorial/instructions clearly shown
* The rain sounds and music loop nicely - and do a great job complementing the excellent visual work that's at play here.
The character does a good job of moving through platforms; the gun fires exactly as you'd expect. There's nothing janky about the basic mechanics (which are often neglected in these jams). I like the control scheme. And the audio clips you've added do a great job of rewarding the player for surviving and grabbing those chips. That said, if you ever revisit this, I hope you'll make some changes to the jump mechanic: the camera movements when you jump are a bit extreme (even a tiny bit nauseating, in my case) and I didn't find it particularly easy to jump and shoot (which would've been really fun!).
This has a solid mood and EVERYTHING WORKS! I'd be pretty proud if I made this.
- @corc0 Great to see this kind of feedback thank you for noticing this it's hard to notice while developing such things and when it's 3 am at night. But i'll keep this in mind.
- @codeer I went for a simple enemy AI but your suggestion would've made more sense thanks for the feedback.
- @sadzanenyama thank you for the feedback the ladders were a broken features so In the end I took them out because I didn't have anytime left. And yes I don't get why the drones were so annying sounding.
- @fpgames thanks for the feedback I took some great time for the character movement.
- @elendow thank you for the feedback I shall keep this in mind for platformers like these to also add the arrow keys as movement option.
- @nerzal Thanks for the feedback the jump on the W was like a difficult choice for me too I had it on space than changed it because I needed something for shooting anyways, I see that W was not the best option here so thanks for the feedback.
- @toffanim the art/sound are not mine I mentioned them on the updated page I hope you will visit them and comment on how good they look I also quite liked them. putting them together that was my part in this game.
- @kittrangers Thank you for noticing the gameplay, could you also be a bit more specific on how the jumping did not feel right
- @renikor Thank you so much for the feedback.
My only I guess real piece of feedback would be that while the game is super polished, I feel as if the gameplay could be improved, for example with the aiming, I would have liked to see maybe being able to hold UP and aim UP, or something along those lines, a bit more then where you look that’s where you shoot.
Or with the levels, it would have been nice to explore more then one level [although I’m guessing you ran out of time, I can relate to that feeling :p]
Overall I do think that the game is super polished, from the character animations, to the shooting, to the UI [honestly the UI is awesome!] I do think in your next jam game you should take a bit more time to polish the gameplay , and when you do, you’ll have an awesome super polished game with polished gameplay!
P.S: I apologize if I was a bit too harsh, I’m really glad that you finished a gamejam game and I hope I do not discourage you from participating in future jams. I look forward to seeing your entry in Ludum Dare 47 !
@badpiggy Cool thanks for the feedback 1 level is not much But again time is important and having to work 2 out of the 3 days is really annoying. I spent quite some hours at night making everything as smooth as possible which forced me to make only 1 level.
