FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN'

* "PRETTY DOPE ASS GAME" PLAYSTATION MAGAZINE ISSUE MAY 2003*
Uh oh! Your tryin to kiss ur hot girlfriend, but her MEAN and EVIL dad is trying to KILL you! He's an ex-rockstar, the only way to get to his heart? The power of music...
Decided to make a rhythm game before the theme, and music is slightly adjacent to looping right? Alright you get it I ain't rollin with the theme this time around, I just wanted an excuse to make a cool game over the weekend.
WE ARE PROBABLY DEFINITELY EXPANDING UPON THIS, THINK OF IT AS A PROTOTYPE AND KEEP AN EYE ON THE GANG'S TWITTER'S!
WASD/ARROW KEYS IS CONTROLS It's basically like DDR, press arrow when arrow over other arrow. And uhhh don't die.

It took me a while to figure out that I was only playing on the right side of the screen though!
I don't usually play rhythm games, so the second song was too hard for me x)
Overall, great job! Keep up the good work! :D
As others mentioned, I also died a couple of times thinking before I figure out I should just repeat after the guy on the left. I initially thought it's a game for 2 players.
Would def love a full version!
Couldn't complete the second song, the diffculty ramps up suddenly!
But awesome all around! Music and graphics are extra cool.
Oh and yeah, the whole package was great and highly polished, consider it liked!
Just for other player that can't find out to play. At the beginning it took me a looong time to understand that:
- I need to press enter to start the game.
- I don't actually need to press the arrows for the guy at the left.
Good luck on making a longer version of that game.
I still had fun though! Great job!
All in all, a great game, incredibly polished!
I feel like it can have an interesting story too, I hope a full version comes out someday!
- inputs occasionally dropped(I might just be bad lol), seemingly along with frames
- highly variable, but often abysmally long (re)load times, especially on the second level
- occasional hangups that'd lead to the tab crashing, mostly during loading
Other than that, I'd like to point out the spike in difficulty between the first and second level is considerable; You don't even get time to parse what just happened before having to execute it yourself, which leads to a lot of failing, which leads to restarts, which leads to waiting for literal minutes and/or crashing. Which is quite unfortunate, since I really wanted to hear more of the songs.
Those are all obviously excusable, as this is still a gamejam game after all. Overall, I'd say y'all did a great job!
Otherwise thanks for da feedback gangsta i appreciate u
It was a good decision to have the dad play the song first, because that makes it easier for the player to get the beat without having to replay, which is good for a jam game. Although I will say that I found this entry via itch.io and that mechanic wasn't obvious to me at first, but it would have been if I saw this page first. I got it after failing the level once anyway.
I wasn't sure if it was me or not but sometimes it seemed like my inputs weren't registering, and it was weird seeing "bad combo" come up when there were still notes I needed to play on the screen.
I really liked the graphics and animation, and I liked the vocaloid-ish singing and music. Overall I'm just really impressed that you pulled-off this game for Ludum Dare. Great job!
