I found this game quite enjoyable. It's a fairly simple concept, but it certainly pulled me into it. I feel it has fairly well balanced difficulty as well.

Nice small game, simple and tight controls! I clicked outside the playarea a few times and lost control of my character which usually led to a retry, but after learning that it was fun to play. Good audio effects and music, fit the graphics nicely

Great graphical style and color choices. Font choice is spot on also. Some effects like the enemy death is nicely done.

Attack could have used some more juice. also the flame you're protecting. The game is too hard with only 1 health.

Overall very good!

It was great, I really liked the jumping and stabby combat system and how if I was getting overwhelmed I could buff my sword into a chaotic lightsaber and flail it about.

Nice game. I like that beautiful pixel art and simple but fitting background music. Spinning blade is a nice powerup idea too. IMO jumping was kinda weird. Nice work!

Great entry! Yeah it really reminded me of Mario bros, as somebody else mentioned. Stunning graphics and extremely well polished! The only thing I miss is some sort of highscore-system!

I wound up playing this waaay longer than I expected too. The execution is great, I especially like the sound effects that make it very satisfying to kill stuff!

Nice game. Liked the tone of it and the graphics a lot, though maybe more effects at times would benefit it. Gameplay wise was active and fun to play and the soundtrack felt eerie enough!:)

I like the graphics and choice of color palette! I feel like the jumping was very floaty which made it hard to fall in time to catch enemies. Overall, It's a fun game and attacking felt very satisfying :)

Enjoyed the game wish there was a downloadable build. The html5 game wouldn't let me hit "E" the first two times I loaded the page. I almost didn't play it but tried a third time and it worked.

Pretty cool idea, it was fun to play and the atmosphere was great! I'd recommend making the player's basic weapon a bit larger though, since at the moment it's difficult to hit enemies just because the attacks require such precision. I really like the soul blade mechanic, it's always nice to be rewarded for doing well in a game!

This game was simple but brilliant. The graphics and feel are really nice, and so are the sounds. The controls are smooth and not too complex. The difficulty is well balanced, and gave me more gameplay than expected

As other said above me. It's simple but good !
The limited color palette really add the the aestethics and mood of the game !
One of the game of this jam that I played for the longest time ^^ I ended up stopping because for unknown reason I couldn't move right randomly which was gamebreaking. I don't know if it's a bug with your game or if my keyboard is dying on me...
My only real bit of criticism would be that the theme is really loosely adapted. By interpreting it like this you could basically adapt every game that has enemy in it. Still, really fun game, congrats !

What a nice little game. It took me a couple of tries but in the end I managed to beat it :)
I just had a small bug a couple of times, that one input got stuck and I kept walking into one direction until i pressed that button again.

After some initial trouble with some keydown or keyup events not working it started to work perfectly. At which point I had tons of fun. The art and music create just the right mood for the setting and the gamepley feels snazzy.

To make the game even cooler it just needs soume sound-efects and maybe the souls being sucked into the actual flame.

Also I don't think the 'falls down once, comes back stronger, falls back twice, you dead' mechanic mentioned in the beginning is actually in there. If it is, it is broken

Great game, everything has a cool vibe, and everything fits together.
Killing the enemies was also really satisfying.
I had some problems, because sometimes the character just walked without me pressing something, but other than that, it was just the right level of difficulty

Visuals and sounds are fine. However, the difficulty curve is pretty steep and the game becomes too hard in a moment. Additionally, I'm not a big fun of floating gravity, but it's personal preference.
