Wyrm:LD34 by tyr_arcana

[raw]
made by tyr_arcana for LD34 (COMPO)
Wyrm:LD34 is a game about being a space dragon and shooting down waves of poor defenceless spaceships (they're defenceless because I did not have time to add the ability for them to shoot back, but I like the empowerment of it).

The game features both themes, with a protagonist who must balance the urge to grow with the limited screen space available. It uses only two buttons for gameplay (plus escape to quit), although which two buttons are used does switch around sometimes.

Features:
* Fast Paced Shooting
* Abstract Artwork
* Two Orientations
* Flexible Aspect Ratio
* Procedurally Generated Levels
* Some Attempt At Balance
* High Score Saving
* Progress Saving
* A Quit Button
* The Ability To Die (the last feature added)

Unity 5 for Windows and WebGL. Hosted on GameJolt.

Interesting art style and concept - as you mention, this is too easy since the enemies are weak.

Fun game, with a solid art style. Had some issues with the game crashing some times. How about adding music and sounds to a post compo version?

I really like the idea that you get disadvantaged as you grow because the available screen size shrinks. Adds a nice balancing element to the game. Nice art style and some great variation of enemies, too. I was also pleasantly surprised when the game switched to a vertical version just as I was starting to get a bit bored with the vertical shooting. Some sound effects and music would've really improved the game though.

Loved the art and the player's shooting mechanics. Would've been great to have some sound to it.

Had fun playing this game - good use of themes. Ramping up the challenge as you progress would be nice since it starts to get repetitive after a while.

Nice art style for the very old game.. but as the player collects more heart it fills half of the screen which is some draw back..
