Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey
Greetings, Drone Operator!
There's a patient on the other side of the city who needs a heart transplant, and yours is the only drone available to bring it to them. I trust you won't let anything get in your way. And for god's sake, don't drop the heart.
Guide the drone and heart through 7 action filled levels, but don't delay, because the heart cannot survive long outside a sterile refrigeration unit, so you'll need to be quick if you want it to still be beating when you arrive. Also, don't drop it.
WASD or arrows to fly the drone. R to restart a level.

Tools used:
- Code: Godot
- Art: Aseprite, paint.net
- Audio: Bosca Ceoil, sfxr, Audacity, MyChord, AutoChord
- Font: Komika Axis
Mac and Linux builds, while available, are sadly untested. They should work though.
Update notes: - 4/21 Fixed two broken hitboxes in level 4

@madbookstudios Haha yeah, I was going for a superhero kinda sound, like "here I come to save the day!" kinda thing. Not a musician though, did what I could. Glad you liked it
@garett-cooper Yeah, the drone controls accelerate it, so they can be slow, especially if you're already moving the other way. This is by design, so that it's possible to keep the heart in the basket. And to encourage applying the controls with a gentle touch so you dont end up going too fast and unable to change directions. Glad you enjoyed it
It's way too satisfying accidentally making the heart do a loop-de-loop around your drone as you're frantically trying to dodge snipers, only to eject the heart from the bucket by accident, watching it fly in an arc towards the goal, and desperately swing the bucket to give it the extra little push in. In short, I think that was the ideal gameplay experience.
The parallax background looked great and I thought the visual styling of the game was good. The tutorial was spot-on, and the controls felt just about right for a physics game. Great work!
Love the funny detail about your voice, yes, who carry heart like that? And who will shoot the drone carrying heart.. Fun game!
Things you did right.
First, you included the pck file with the build. Thank you. Next, your manner in which you handled the first level. You didn't start the timer, you gave all the important information right away in a way that wasn't information overload. Great way to include a "tutorial" level without feeling like I"m jumping through hoops.
By far the best game I've played so far this LD.
The voiceovers were the touch of perfection on top, they really took the game to the next level. Very well done!
@martintale Glad you liked it!
@stevis93 I love when you lose the heart, but then catch it again! Also seriously, whoever the patient is, they must have a lot of enemies. Thanks for playing!
@rjerez192 Haha thanks! I would have liked more levels, and more types of obstacles too. But time constrained me, and I was pretty tired of making levels by the end of it.
@zwodahs Thanks for playing! Flappy bird is definitely one of the inspirations for this game. Level 6 is designed specifically to look like flappy bird. I considered using the voiceover on that level to make a reference to it, but decided against it.
@blackopsben It cracks me up too, I thought I would get tired of it, but watching the heart rolling around is too good. Thanks for playing!
@jetthesimon Thanks for playing! Glad you appreciated my sense of humor. They sent snipers? Who does that?!
@fussenkuh Something about the pigeons and the heart and the twirling is just really absurd. I especially like when one of the pigeons gets in the basket and carries you away! Thanks for playing!
@mrfluffysheep It fills my heart to hear you like the art. I feel like I've really improved there over the past few ldjams, and kinda thought I nailed it this time. Thanks for playing!
@viniflores Glad you enjoyed it. You're right that it's challenging. I wanted there to be hard levels, because people said my last compo game was too easy (lol). But I didn't have time to make enough levels to have a smooth difficulty curve, so it suddenly gets really hard around the pigeons level. Thanks for playing!
@dnp Yeah, it can be pretty tricky, especially when you get hit. And you're right, would a lid have been so much to ask for? Thanks for playing, glad you liked the voiceover!
@sayumeki Haha, glad you enjoyed it! It's very satisfying when the heart flies out, but you're able to save it  . I'm thrilled to hear you liked the background, I liked it too, but was a little worried it would be distracting.
@alex-chrome Thanks for playing! And yeah, that's one of those things where I just couldn't tell if it was going to be annoying or not, and decided to leave it in, sorry it bothered you!
@zzox Glad you liked it! I had a lot of fun recording the voices. It's always amusing to listen to a playback of your own voice and think "No, not gravelly enough, better redo that one". The difficulty curve definitely spikes at level 3. Honestly, the snipers are easier than the pigeons, but it didn't seem right to swap the order. And to any speedrunners out there, you can start flying as soon as the level loads, even before the camera sweep is done, as long as you can fly blind!
@forevertrash Glad you enjoyed it, and particularly heartened to hear praise for the artwork, that's definitely something I'm proud of my improvement in.
@psychic-ash Glad you liked it! I don't know what a pck file is, but I figured everything that gets generated should be included.
@greytyphoon Thanks for playing! Why can't that darned basket just stay still? My only regret is not being able to have my voiceover sound more like the guy from XCOM.
@anchoredtoad Thanks for playing!
Surprisingly fun. It has that moonlander feel / fun frustration to it, and very funny too. It has a lot of potential!
I found a bug where you could get above the ceiling clouds but not get back below them.
Solid stuff overall! I feel that the art was a bit lacking but can't put my finger on what it was exactly.
Controlling the drone was challenging and nicely designed!
I loved the art, mechanics, and humourous voice overs. Art was clean, and mechanics was tuned just right. Parallax backgrounds were a nice touch. I felt twisty passages level was much too hard, I spent the most time on that. Maybe I got lucky but I cruised through the next two stages.
Just kidding, I loved it hahaha. Really fun to play!

Strenghts :
- Tight controls, straightforward gameplay, constant challenge. What's there not to love ?
- Loved the voice acting too ;)
Possibe improvements :
- Do not show again the initial camera displacement on restart (like in the second level)
Awesome entry !
Only thing of note is that you can start moving your drone before the camera has tracked back when restarting a level. Although that had some funny results too.
Great game.
Just one small thing, it would be better if you didn't show the camera animation every single time. Maybe just at the start of each level once. It can get annoying course I die a lot haha
Well, you deserve the number 1 in my opinion :P Keep up the good work!
I love it when an absolutely absurd game takes itself seriously. The snipers were a brilliant touch.
The only constructive feedback I can offer is that it'd be better if the R key worked to advance past the "try again" screen, so you don't have to switch between the keyboard and the mouse just for that. Everything was just great. Very clever idea!
Overall solid and fun game, well done!
I remember the controls were weird and awkward in a good challenge/interesting way. Well done.
