The Crystals of Gingledoof by X54321

[raw]
made by X54321 for Ludum Dare 37 (COMPO)
****IMPORTANT: The instructions say the S moves down, but it is actually the X key that moves down!!!
NOTE: I accidentally submitted this for the Jam instead of the Compo. This was made in 2 days instead of 3.
YOU MUST COLLECT THE CRYYYYYSTALS OF GINGLEDOOOOOF!!!!!!
A turn-based beat-em-up (you heard that right) about the legendary dwarf Popo Momo.
Instructions and lore are included with the game.

Really good! The controls took a while to get used to, but the mechanics and strategic elements are great.

This is actually a strategic game, and the mechanics is really nice.

Controls were a bit tough to get the hang of at first, but after that initial hurdle the game was fun, great job.

That was fun! The resolution of turns was not intuitive (I should have escaped the dynamite blast, but instead it hurts me and prevents my move!), and there were a few bugs with throwing that made it a little hard to predict what would actually happen with your turn. The controls also took some getting used to, but I enjoyed the fact that you had multiple enemy types and I enjoyed myself playing it! Also, the humor really helped with the overall game.

WOW! Nice Pixel Art! Quite difficult but i love that. And the fact that isn't developed in Unity nor UE is a good point! Good Job!

It's write in the instructions that you can go down with 'S', but when you do that you put dynamite on the floor...
I'm also on a AZERTY keyboard so playing the game was... difficult...
Except that, the idea seamed great. I think I won't rate it right now and I'll give it another try when I'll have download a QWERTY keyboard online.

@Xwilarg DOH!!! That was entirely my fault. The down key should be "X".

I really liked the turn based mechanics. Pressing x for down was unintuitive and I found myself blowing myself up twice before realizing what I had done. Good work!

Game is alright, but having "S" be the bomb key instead of space or some button that's easily reached feels very wrong and wonky.

I would have prefer numpad for controls. I accidentally pressed S key to go east a couple of times.4
I liked the game very much! Thank you for the game!

It takes a while to get used to the controls, and once I did, they felt pretty unintuitive. Preference for the keys being closer together and a separate key on the opposite end to deploy a bomb. It also didn't really help that the instructions could only be viewed on the titlescreen rather than the game itself, considering the movement keys were all spread apart from each other.
I found the text to speech amusing and fitting for a game of this title. Chunky pixel art like this could use some chiptunes in the game.
