Dive into an adventure deeper and deeper into the dark and unknown in Deep Dive into the Dark Depths!

This game features a mixture of gameplay elements that feel somewhere in between Frogger and a bullet hell. What lies at the bottom of this deep, dark trench?

CONTROLS

WASD or Arrow keys, your pick. Should in theory also support an xbox controller, but it remains untested.

FISH VARIETIES

  • Feesh - Rather stupid. Yellow in tint, move in one direction.
  • Foosh - The more aggressive Feesh. Blue in color. It follows divers, and hates when they get away.
  • Sploosh - Green fish, able to shoot algae projectiles. Likes their personal space, though. Use that to your advantage.
  • Gloosh - Glowing green fish. They are passive and don't want to make you drown, they just want to light the way.
  • Snark - Big meanies. Come in at high velocity, but your scuba gear is able to detect them shortly before they plow on through.
  • Skadoosh - ?????????
  • Kaboosh - ate too much taco bell

So to be honest, I've played a bunch of other "Dive into water and avoid things" games so far...

...but I gotta say, this one is far and away the best one!

It's super well balanced, the difficulty ramps up very smoothly, the enemies are really interesting (I especially like the Foosh -- Homing + Lunge worked really well here!) and I liked mechanics like reduced light (for the first 50 meters I was like pssh who needs a flashlight but by 500 meters I was desperately searching for one!)

If I were back in high school computer lab, I'd definitely skip all my assignments and just play this.

Great job!

I started a bit confused, but after that initial learning curve, it was fun! After a while though, the game got a bit repetitive and went on for too long. Same goes with the boss at the end, it was super fun for a while, then it just got repetitive and way too hard. Nice game overall though! I really liked the music and the art was great too!

Great game! The way you pulled off the light effect was really great, worked very well. Glad to see more Godot games. Simple game to understand, and very effective type of game for a jam of this size.

These fish are ruthless. Great job, with this, it might be a bit too hard for me, but I like these kinda arcade-y titles. Now if only I was a bit better.

The game started as very easy but later on got quite hard. I liked the variety of enemies and the graphics. It surprisingly was a very zen-like experience  Great job! Congrats!

it is very funny that we made a very similar game! :) I like the real time version of the same idea. We only added a twist that you have to go back to surface, but without that feature I see that it also get interesting. Great game!

The gameplay and music was relaxing. I got to the end boss and had no idea what I was supposed to do. It seemed like fish would come out and explode and hurt the boss, but it was so random I felt like I wasn't doing anything.

Good game and nice little tune, giving the background some texture though would be nice.

Nice entry, and fits the theme well! I couldn't make it to the bottom of the trench, got eaten by the... snarks? somewhere between 500 and 600 meters. For LD, it could be a little bit shorter or include a checkpoint or two :)
