The games amazing! Pretty fun, fits well with the theme, looks great. And that first tutorial area is great design. Great work!

this is awesome! lovely aesthetic, reminds me of the original flywrench. the beginning tutorial is perfect. the controls are great, and the level design makes good use of them. there's a lot of leeway when hitting enemies which is very appreciated. I love the small bit of nuance with the controls, where you can release a charge prematurely to make a mid-sized blast that lets you recover faster, makes me think there are some neat speedrunning tactics if anyone were to speedrun the game :)

the narrative of digging downward through different layers of hell/sin is super cute, and the level presentation reflects that very well. and the music is *incredible*, I would honestly just listen to that on my own.

overall a lovely game!

This game is so good I lost track of time and burnt the rice I was cooking for dinner in the other room.......

LOVE the soundtrack, mechanics, art, and concept. You win the award for first game that I actually downloaded (I tend to really only play the ones that are HTML5 hosted) The gameplay GIF really captured my interest and it was so worth it!

Extremely polished and refined game. So impressive for 48h. 5/5

This is the most fun compo game I've found so far! I love the mechanics and the 7 deadly sins theme! The "lust" one was especially clever. Well done!

Really nice mechanics, being able to destroy the terrain but in a very controlled and limited fashion, that can also have drawbacks (jumping into enemies up high), felt really novel. The soundtrack und visuals are top notch, really well polished. The only gripe i have which makes it difficult to play for me is that the window is not resizable. Insert first world problem her, about big and fancy monitors.

So far, this is one of the most fun I've had~!

I could definitely see this being a speedrun game if pushed even further! Perfect execution in this regard~

The feel, the gameplay, the graphics, and even the themes for each level!! I wish I could play more of it if you push past this compo state and certainly impressive for a compo entry!

One of best games so far. Really cool visuals and music. They are simple enough to be made in a compo and yet so polished that it feels like a whole team would have worked on that for a year. You must be a master of dividing your time :D Only complaint: more levels. This was way too much fun to stop. Thanks!

A fantastic awesome entry in this jam. The game showed me how much I suck at platformers. The gamplay, the controls and how the movement and the combos feel is absolutely well polished. No excuse: I'm bad.

And the soundtrack is just rad!

One of my favourites so far. Challenging but not unfair. And the direct controls make the shovel an allie, not another foe you have to deal with. Good work.

This could be the winner of LD48.
Controls are perfect, music is great, design is brilliant, level design is FANTASTIC. I wish I could reach that level of design skill someday.

I'm having a hard time coming up with anything but praise for this piece: the music, the clever way of telegraphing level quirks with level names, the tutorial, the consistent theme. The difficulty level is a bit wobbly at times, I found some of the earlier levels to be harder than the last levels. But I mean, what a game!

The game feels amazing to play, it's so bouncy and responsive, I love that. Animations and sound effects are super satisfying, especially the charged jump. It's challenging but fair, I died a bunch of times but always wanted to try again until I reached the end, items that become death traps are a bit sadistic but in a fun way.

I also really enjoyed the retro music as well as the simple/elegant pixel art, everything feels super clean and polished. Also you get to become the ruler of hell in the end and isn't that just neat.

That's it, I don't have anything negative to say about this, you nailed it.

This is definitely the most satisfying game I've played so far. Everything felt super polished - the charge jump was especially addictive. The music really suited the mood of the visuals/narrative and the sound effects only made the movement feel more responsive/satisfying. Each level added a new problem to be solved so I was consistently hooked. Awesome submission!

Holy shit, THIS was seriously really good. The controls feel so precise & natrual I've never blamed any other than myself for ****ing up some jump at these harder levels at the end, it is just THAT good. Level Design was also pretty good! A few blind spots here and there but they never felt unfair.

Honestly just a amazing game! Thank you.

Really good game overall, one of my favorites this LD. Simple but attractive and original art style, great level design, control, music fits well, and very complete. Feels like a mix of Shovel Knight with Downwell. I like how there was a dollar sign that seems collectable in the greed level but maybe actually wasn't? It made me feel greedy but then I gave up. Well done!

LOL, that one is actually collectable and yes it's pretty much there just to bait greedy players because it's kinda tough to get and really not worth it.

Quality experience, well put together. A bit of a mixture of Shovel Knight and Downwell. Sounds effects and music are good, and thematically consistant with the graphics. I felt a little betrayed hearts became bad in Lust, but I ended up like the idea-- overall going through these different environments provides nice variety. The scope is impressive for such a short time. The tutorialization through an area that you need to understand the controls in order to leave is clever. I don't have a lot of critiques really-- just here to say that this is nicely done.

Probably the best game I've playtested so far! Level design was great, the movement was fluid and responsive, and I loved the design of the core mechanics (like how the charge serves as both a higher jump and a way to dig sideways). I wish there was a multiplier for defeating multiple enemies without touching the ground, but I figure that would've been a little tricky to implement.

Wow! Apart from the length this really doesn't feel like a jam game. Really good platformer with super solid controls and mechanics with very clever use of its thematics to come up with level gimmicks and keep turning everything on its head! 😍 And the tune is a bop too. 🤩 I see you're working on something else at the moment but this would definitely be worthy of the post-jam treatment too. Amazing.

Very good! A unique idea, with a kind of zany premise. **Spoilers** An angel shovel falls from heaven and becomes the new ruler of hell? Who comes up with something like that!

The 2 main abilities, charge and double jump are well used. I like how good everything feels. (Digging, which was WELL used in this jam's theme overall, is done in a way that totally innovates the idea into a double edge mechanic. You make progress, but you kill your safe space)

A story sneaks into the level design, which is very fun and well done. I especially liked the level that changed all the rules of the blocks and forced you to rethink what you've learned!

There's always something new to see (many different enemies, and each level has it's own look and feel), and stays interesting throughout. There are some tricky areas that can feel a little harsh, but it's ultimately my fault for dying in that same spot 5 times  The nature of falling downward did introduce some "leaps-of-faith", which may actually tie into the whole falling from heaven theme, but can still feel like it's cheating me out of a fair death.

Overall a very good game and entry! Great job!

PS. Music is also very good!

Really great game! The basic movement mechanics are such a joy to control, with an extra flair of audiovisual juice. On top of that, I enjoyed how each level has its own unique twist based on the circles of hell. I especially liked the fraud level, where the meaning of everything was reversed. Not only was it funny, but the humor came out of the game design, not just some arbitrarily inserted joke. Overall, just a joy to play. Excellent work!

Great platforming movement and really nice theming as you descended the depths of hell. I love how pretty much each circle of hell reused some earlier game play element, usually in an ironic fashion. The destructible terrain mechanic was used well, the music was pretty catchy, and the difficulty curve was pretty good.

I think my only complaint is that the level design has quite a few blind falls / leap of faiths that make it hard to "sightread" a level. I think given the nature of the game, it's hard to avoid this in the level design; maybe something like a camera that accelerates downwards as you fall so the player stays in the top 1/4 of the screen could help.

>leaps-of-faith

I get what you mean, it's a jam design oversight. I think it would be pretty easy to fix just by making some slight adjustments to the level design to make things more clear. Thanks for the feedback. I will get back to this game at some point I think!

Absolutely loved this, definitely one of my favourite entries so far, felt so polished and complete.
Liked how the levels progressed in difficulty but do have to admit that I got stuck at the lust level and greed levels at the start. Took me a lot of lives to get passed those. Couldn't stop playing though and after quitting first time I went back and played it again all the way through and reached the ending which was a funny great surprise. Also second time through I was surprised at how easily I was able to get through the lust and greed levels that I'd struggled through earlier. Definitely shows how as you learn the mechanics you get a lot better at the game which is a great reflection on the level design you've created.
Loved the clean art also which allowed you to focus on the gameplay and movement which worked so well and reminded me of Zero Lives which I'm looking forward to also :)
