This is such a clever idea! I would love to play a full length game like FTL issuing commands this way. You actually feel like the captain prioritizing where to send his men. Great work on this.

Well done! The concept works really well. It's nice to use only the keyboard. There's a lot to do and graphics and sound design are good. It's immersive with the enemy ship that comes in the background. I enjoyed it. Nice work. I suppose you could add more stuff to do in the future !

Maybe you should make clear that the pirate name you give yourself is for the leader board. I thought it would be super smart to call myself Q in a typing game :laughing:

Love the graphics and music of this game! Getting water out of the ship doesn't seem to work for me, but maybe the moral was to low or something like that. One thing I noticed is that it can be difficult to see whether you have to type "the" or "that" if you ship has a lot damage, but maybe that problem only occured because I did not play in fullscreen mode.

I should indead recommend to play in full screen, the letters are a bit too small by default.

The pump evacuates the water as fast as one hole makes its level increase, so if you have 2 holes in the hull, the water level will still increase. But indeed the morale also has an impact on this!

Fun game! I see you changed the graphics style, and it looks good. The whole screen works together quite nicely. I'd do something about the ship rotation, bc I think it turns too much. No other nitpicks apart from that. I like the command system a lot.

Also I'm one of the Rollys on the leaderboard. I thought it'd be smart and witty to use your name. Didn't know it was for the leaderboard :shrug:

the graphics style is nice looking. originally i thought the game was too easy and then it kept getting more difficult. it was really fun to play

Phenomenal idea and execution! Great way to take a typing game and give it some strategy and a fun story. I think my only criticism is making the problems that need addressing more "obvious". When water was filling up in my ship, I was like "oh no duh, gotta clear that out". But when I had some holes in my ship that were rather small, I just assumed I'd be fine? I wasn't fine haha. Essentially the only way to know that an order needed to be shouted was to start calling out someone's name and see if there were new options. Overall though, this is an excellent project.

Very neat game, I reached 1488 when a bug appeared where typing wouldn't work no matter what I typed for the last letter. It was unfortunate because I had a really good flow going. Had a lot of fun, only real suggestion I could give is maybe add a way to shoot back at other enemy pirates and add more background graphics, but given the short time from you had to make this I think your game turned out really well.

Very cool take on the typing game genre! You typing to shout commands make so much sense. Great graphics, sound and mood. As another commenter said, a FTL game in this style would be awesome.

Excellent gameplay! Good, innovative use of using the keyboard instead of a set of controls to command your troops into keeping the ship well-manned. I do wish the commands were shorter, or at least, a bit easier to handle, but I'm guessing that's part of the challenge.

@tiny-pig I'm actually considering it - I brainstormed a bit to see how I could build on top of the current gameplay, and I have a few ideas that could turn out well :) I don't know if a full version of it could come soon, but I'll make sure to let you know if this happens!
