A top-down stealth game set on a lightless alien world.
You wake alone on an alien world forsake by light.
And something has gone terribly wrong.
You are blind - your only tool is a short-range LIDAR ping that gives you a brief peek into to gloom.
Use it to map your surroundings, locate enemies, and find your objectives.
But every ping is a signal, and something in the dartk is listening
Controls
- WASD / Arrow keys - Move
- Space - Fire ping
- E - Interact with terminals and switches
- Tab - Pause menu (also lets you adjust display size)
- F - Toggle fullscreen
Gamepad is also supported: left stick to move, A or RT to ping, X to interact.
Touch controls (expiremental): - Movement: On the left side touch and hold for virtual joystick - Fire ping: Tap right side to trigger a ping - Interaction: Contextual button will appear on the right - Adjust game size by pinching - Double tap on title screen to toggle fullscreen
Post Jam Changelog:
- Fix performance issues by introducing performance profiles. The high profile is how it original was, with the incredibly costly "ping glow" effect.
- Added setting menu to switch performance mode (, & . to cycle modes)
- Added mobile friendly controls
- Added display size zoom keyboard controls: - & + to scale up and down, or pinch zoom on touch devices
The game is designed around desktop controls, mobile touch controls are a bit of an after thought any may not be fully functional.
Unfortunately touch appear to be broken on Safari on iPhone and iPad.
If the virtual joystick does not appear under the touch point, or if the button on the right is not visible they unforunately it is bugged. Please try the itch.io version or a different browser in landscape mode.
Features
- LIDAR ping system with raycasted wavefront rendering - objects are only visible inside the expanding pulse
- Enemy AI that hunts by ping detection, not line of sight - they hear you, not see you
- Doors and switches with linked gate logic
- Mines, scolding leaking steam vents, and deadly pools of acid
- Multiple levels with a campaign progression
- Level selector
- Level editor included in the download (open via the dev menu in-game)
- Secret cheats and dev menu (backtick and shift+backtick)
Alas I only had time to build 2 levels.
There's a full featured level editor and lots of assets - I'll build some postjam levels soon(tm).
This project made heavy use of claude code. It may not be coding in the traditional sense but it's definitely game design, which made this project pretty fun. It certainly took a lot of work. More thoughts on that soon...

Tech
- Vanilla JavaScript (ES modules) — no game framework
- Canvas 2D API — all rendering
- Web Audio API — all sound, fully procedural (oscillators + noise, no audio files)
- Vite — dev server and build tool
It's kind of mad how quickly the AI coding tools takes care of all the boring stuff. No faffing around in Unity this time.

cool idea overall, plays nicely
really wanted to blow up the target on the mini but couldn’t figure it out
feels like this could be expanded further, it’s already fun
Also has some perfomance issues when ping but not crytical at all
I thought the idea was really cool and I had a lot of fun in the short time I played. I was expecting a longer game, but I imagine the short time for its creation hampered your plans.
Even though it's short, it's very polished. I didn't find any bugs.
I loved the traffic light mechanic. How the light is blocked by obstacles. You did a great job.
Congratulations!
I too am not a fan of the use of AI in a game jam (or in general 😅), but I commend you for disclosing it. The idea is still your own. It holds up well and uses the theme to great effect!
Would’ve loved some music to compliment the mood.
