Hectical Escape by fgamer99
Steve is in a room. It's cold, dark and he wanna go home
but this so called lab is just a giant maze.
Sadly there are some kind of self destruct mechanics, if someone breaks in.
Breaking in was simple. Breaking out is a whole different story.

Fun series of "race-to-the-exit" challenges. Maybe I just need to "get good" but I did think that the fifth button (? the first one using the speed boost) was a bit of a difficulty spike -- and it's a bit annoying to get reset to start on every failure; maybe some checkpointing would make the challenge more enjoyable.
Also would be nice if there were some indicator as to how much time is left until your powerup runs out!
Kudos on making a whole tutorial level. Also loved the character sprite.
I didn't get that far in the actual game thou, wasn't as easy as I expected.
Nice work overall!
Now the main issue I see with this kind of game is that the player gets punished a lot. Failing a jump or ducking a bit too late usually means failing the "level", and thus having to start over from the beginning. Also, the fact that you cannot see the whole level makes it difficult to pass them on the first attempt.
Here are some solutions I can think of:
- When passing the door, pausing the game during 3 seconds and zooming out. That would allow the player to already figure out the solution instead of having to discover the level and figuring the solution at the same time.
- Having some doors be checkpoints, so that you don't have to start over again and again.
The animation of the character is pretty well done. The ducking visuals could have been a bit more different than the standing one. The music worked pretty well, and I loved the nice little melodiy changing to the fast-paced one!
Good job ;)
