10HEAD by LDJam user 305869
10HEAD is an arcade puzzle game. Think Tetris meets Match 3.
10HEADs are small creatures that only live up to 10 seconds then they die and leave their corpse on the board. You can of course give them an early death to score higher points. Stack them up by color to clear them off the board and receive a score.
Controls: WASD/arrows, space, K.
This is pretty much my first game ever and it was a pretty big hurdle to learn this game engine in 48 hours. But it was fun nevertheless!

I spammed K to end my game after 3000 points or so, and all the blocks suddenly went gray. I do not know if that's a feature, but it may be a bit harder to play :p But it was by spamming K which we should not do if we play it normally, so that's fine

I found it really satisfying how the pieces moved - it wasn't just a rigid grid, they could sort of push on each other, which felt nice to play
I also think the game is designed well, having 6 colors on the 5x5 board is a good balance!
I think you should keep experimenting with this idea a bit because it's interesting. It kind of reminds me of Wario's Woods for the SNES, where it's a puzzle game with a playable character that's part of the puzzle mechanic. That game was fun as hell.
Also, for your first game this is very impressive!
Also, what's up with everything turning gray? I'd just started with my custom rule to place everything before 9 to try to force the difficulty up a bit.

Oh, and only take that as constructive criticism, everything else was great! Very cute. Good level of stressful, and very nice small details, like the guys pushing up against each other etc;

@bowlercaptain @ben-barsdell Thanks for the feedback! I fixed the colors in a patch shortly after the release. I agree that the rules could be worked on, I thought I would have time to come up with something better... Maybe in the future!
@ben-barsdell @rinkuji @jaykayey @airwaffle Thanks for the feedback! And yes there are quite a few blocks. I don't think I will be able to fix them all at least not for this LD. The combining of 4 10HEADs was lazy coding by me. Being able to squeeze between them was a bit of a limit of the game engine. But the bug of all characters turning white/gray seems to be the game switching to/from OpenGL due to the browser disliking some memory usage by the engine... alas, thanks for pointing it out!
- Even tho the music doesn't loop perfectly, it's not bad at all and fits a puzzle game!
- The game seems way too easy, as long as we don't get very bad colors we can go on forever. We don't even need to push most of the time.
- Well, we _could_ go on forever, but there's a memory leak of some kind, the game gets slower and slower over time, until we get the white board shown in a comment above.
- Changing the color of the old pieces is a bad idea in a game where we need to match the same colors. I wasn't sure sometimes if what I was looking at was old red or pink. D:
- The 4-match when it's a square is actually a good idea, even if unintended, because squares are a bit more difficult to fit.
Overall a fun puzzle game that just needs more difficulty and a few minor fixes!
The time limit does not seem to effect much maybe if you had a hold box like in tetris it would effect more, but then it may be to easy...

I think the movement system could be improved. It's a bit difficult to grab and move the creatures, and I noticed that I would often get stuck on edges. Maybe discrete grid-based movement would be better.
