This is an absolutely beautiful mashup of Shotgun King and Wildfrost! I think everything about it is charming. I like the variation of abilities, I like how the board looks, and I like the strategy of chaining your jumps together.
I think this game can and should be expanded upon. I think the only issue that I have with it is that sometimes when I would click on one of my pieces to review its stats, the game would think I was dragging it up one tile and move it instead.
Great work!

This has phenomenal polish and I love how you built out the bones for what you'd flesh the rest of the game (the intro character sequence) into. I think you've tapped into something so fundamental and true with this one. You're a genius. Some of the design choices that I didn't like at first, I realized later on that they were really important to the game too. Wild stuff.

really enjoyed this. nice overall vibe! I never quite understood the variation in rules but I found myself not caring because it was fun to just see what was possible in real time.

Wow, I _love_ this game. The core mechanics work great, there's a bunch of interesting things to buy, and it kept me interested and engaged to the end. _Lots_ of potential to expand this, but it's such a deep and interesting game already! My only complaint is that occasionally I would end up ending my turn when there was more jumping that could be done (early on, because I clicked on my two possible targets to see what was special about them, not knowing that would cancel my jump - maybe clicking on an enemy piece should never end your move?).

One of the best games I've seen for the compo. Your games are always really creative!!!

I liked it so much I had to play it a second time. There's so much variety in pieces. Honestly, the final shop before the last level should be a "super-shop" with one of every piece available. There's so many that I'm sure I still haven't seen all of them after 2 runs.

I love everything about this game.

What a great game! The graphics and audio are very nice, but the checkers gameplay is what really shines. The pieces and abilities are really cool

It just doesn't feel like a game jam game and I wouldn't have been surprised to see it appear in a Nintendo direct!
I love that each pawn has its own stats and ability.
And I'm not talking about the graphics or the incredible music.
The only small flaw was the statistics panel, it takes a long time to have to click on a unit and wait for it to appear to consult it, it could be displayed directly when hovering over a pawn.
Great game!

The amount of polish to the game is unreal! I haven't played checkers in so long but I adore the additions of pieces you added to it, really spices things up in ways that vanilla checkers can only hope for! I played with a mole and a hedgehog and their synergies was so bad but I found it hilarious, thank you for such a lovely experience, I'm gonna keep coming back to it to finish it but have this first! ![1thyoi.png](///raw/2e9/26/z/68693.png) -Swan

I always love to see what you do next, this may be my favorite game I have played form you, the amount of depth and polish here is insane, you managed to make each piece mechanically useful well balanced and unique. they play off of each other wonderfully.
I love that on top of that you can take both a defensive and a offensive approach to winning, it makes the game so fun and replayable. I don't know how you managed to do all of this in just 2 days.

I couldn't finish the last level, I tried but it was far too difficult for my brain to manage everything in the most efficient way lol

The presentaion is also incredible as usual, you have such a pleasant minimalistic style for these that works perfectly. it's also a very creative use of the theme

This is one of my favorite games form the jam so far

Usually I only rate the game but I will make an exception, I love your energy and art style, dropped a follow on every platform conceivable, excited for your next game because you have talent (also yo another punkcake and shotgun king fan?)

Okay now for the game itself, the art is beautiful but silly, absolutely perfect for my brain, combining checkers with the most random piece choices is incredibly innovating, they are tiny creatures on the board so really fits the theme, has a great value of humor, audio was a treat, be it a tad bit sharp on my ears, bravo this is easily a top 3 of mine this jam

Wow, amazing game, I love the art, the music and sounds are nice, the gameplay is great and there is so much variety. There are just 2 things which I found annoying, that is sometimes moving pieces when trying to select them, and having to wait for the selected piece info to slowly show up, this was annoying when I tried to calculate how much damage I have vs how much I need to destroy enemy pieces.

Yooo there's an absolute load to love in Tiny Checkers! My goodness!

I love all the cute pieces (snowman is my personal favorite). I love how easy it is to just pick up and play. I love that this game has a very respectable amount of content and every second of my play through was spent smiling. I love that mousing over letters in text boxes highlights them. I love the UI across the whole game. I love building a little army of cute friends to lead me to clutch victories!

Tiny Checkers is freakin' drowning in polish and the sheer charm and little details just grab my soul. There's so much depth to the game without being overwhelming or slow. I found myself in desperate times and somehow coming out on top with my little misfit buddy pieces, and it is an absolute blast! This is fan-freakin'-tastic and def my pick for best game in the compo. I absolutely love this, thank you so much for making this game!

I really liked the gameplay and it's always nice to play a game which could be develop in a full game. Not sur if it come from my computer, but sometime the click bug, it was'nt detected correctly and the piece kind of move on his own by one case making the game really difficult. Overall a really cool entry

Great game that I had a lot of fun playing! I do think there were some balance issues as I had 600 gold extra by level 9 and found that I didn't really need to be clever with chaining together my jumps. It also seemed like the AI chooses a piece at random before determining what to do with it, which meant that I was rarely punished for putting a piece in a dangerous position. I also had my game crash at the second to last level with a null error when killing two pieces at the same time with a kangaroo, so I was unable to experience the end. Overall though I had a great time and I think the concept has a decent amount of depth to it. Nice job!

Classic Thiori game! Love it. Very satisfying to play. Cute artwork as usual.

Only problem is that it seems a bit too easy to simply kill all opponent pieces. I had a huge surplus of gold at the end, more than I could ever spend. Going for the score-based victory just seemed pointless. It would probably be more balanced if the AI was a bit smarter and could punish bad moves.

My favorite piece was the shotgun king, I think most of my turns were spent using the shotgun king. The totem was a close second.

Overall very fun to play!

This game was honestly one of the most impressive jam games I have seen in a very long time! It was extremely polished all around, the mechanics thoughtfully developed, and had a very engaging audio and visual style that led me to finishing the game by the end. I love how you can approach the game from different ways too, I found trying to get pieces into enemy territory to be a really fun mechanic to play around. Amazing work!!

Might be my favorite LD56 game so far. Addicting gameplay and a very nice presentation. Had a lot of fun playing it the whole way through.

My only complaints are that clicking the mouse felt off a lot times. way too many unwanted moves were made because I accidentally unclicked the mouse on a random square. Something like having the option to cancel chosen piece with a right click could add a lot as well because it was annoying to exit a chosen piece to try to see another one's move set. Also would have got rid of the text's animation for the pieces information. In a game like this you want to get this kind of information as fast as possible, and having to wait for it all to appear every time was frustrating. Loading and unloading pieces between levels was annoying as well, as its isn't very clear where you have to leave a piece that you want to unload, especially in the end game when you have a full army.

All of those things, however, are quality of life stuff. The core of the game itself is great! Interested to see if you'll develop it further, I would gladly play some more levels.

btw I dig the cute avatar and the drawings you comment on other people's games here, so here ya go ((^: ![gamemaker2.png](///raw/a49/b3/z/69004.png)

That was so cool!! I think the balancing is a little off as I didn't feel it was difficult for me to get to the very end, but this is a jam game after all, so I would say it's better like this than if it had been too difficult. For a compo entry this is extremely impressive, it feels like there's a lot of content and different strategies to go for, the visuals are great and the audio feels nice and complete. This was so fun! For a while I was like "this is so easy, especially with my shotgun king, I can't lose!" and then I started facing additional opponents...

The AI isn't great, which I'm assuming inspired adding additional enemies to play against, but honestly the unpredictability of the AI was a positive in the long run. Can I put a piece somewhere it can be attacked to set myself up next turn and not get jumped? Probably, but it's still a big risk!

Also the animation on this was GREAT, and I loved the variety of pieces!
