This is a fantastic game. The level design is spot on. You do a great job of showing the different gates that need to be progressed through before you get the appropriate character to advance.
My only complaint is that for a game about collecting mix tapes, there was no music/sound! :(

Lovely game!

wowowWOW

this is incredible that someone made a full ASS metroidvania in this time restriction. some really creative abilities as well. cockroach telebug and the flea are all absolute faves for me

couple of slightly annoying spots of level design right towards the end but overall WOW this is good.

Wow this rules actually. Really level layout and the multiple characters with their abilities are all very fun! I do think audio would have really strengthened the mood, but as far as pure gameplay goes this is fantastic.

I love it! A short and fun metroidvania that ticks all the boxes. The best part of a game like this is seeing something you want, but can't get yet, and wishing you could go into water, fly, etc, and then getting that ability later and backtracking, and this nails that design

Awesome game I really liked how the world design really pushes the player to using the whole crew

I loved the level design, I was always almost lost, but not quite. I loved the way you made the different paths make cycles, so you don't have to backtrack. This reminded me a lot of the good old metroid games.

The graphics were neat, there's definitely some pixel art insect creation skills here
Too bad there's no audio ambience !

The teleporting bug made me laugh , after all these almost real-life like abilities ...

Thanks for making this game , really enjoyed it ! ( died 32 times, 11.9 minutes )

God the part where you have to switch between all the bugs drove me to the brink lol

Fun gameplay, first game I think I have actually enjoyed the play through :)

Fun visuals, works well, has depth - what more could I ask for?

I would have preferred the bugs animating when moving instead of wriggling back and forth and it was a bit unclear how to move forward (though maybe that's the point). Liked the pixel are style.

What an awesome entry. The level design and puzzles were perfect. I couldn't ever have imagined playing a metroidvania in a game jam. Well done.

Wow! That's a great metridvania with a very competent progression and difficulty curve. I would have made lava slightly slower, but that's just me  Loved the death animation and cool abilities

Good job!

Really well done! Loved the puzzle design and the switching between bugs. Level design was awesome, and I was never in doubt as too what to do. Took me 7.8 minutes to solve the game.

Great little metroidvania with some nice level design and art. Only thing missing is sound. All forms feel quite balanced and no one really overtakes any other in what they excel at. The gauntlet at the end where you have to quickly switch forms was super fun!

As mentioned by others some sound/music is sorely missed. Although I heard faint boss music in my head as I struggled through the lava level :P

This was a lot of fun, and very impressive given you only had 48 hours

Really awesome and tightly-designed! Particularly loved how the lava section tied together a bunch of abilities, and the quick retries made it addicting to retry the tough bits. Amazing job overall!

I started having some trouble towards the bee, kind of wish the flight was a bit longer, but I totally get the design space you're going for with the challenge of the levels. Kind of wish that there was some audio to tie together whole mixtape element of the beetle, but I totally understand the time limit you had to work with!

I really liked unlocking new characters and gaining new traversal options, that's definitely a great choice that was made for the game and if you iterate on this idea more, there's a whole world of possibilities.

Played it after the rating ended, amazing game, the level design is really on point. The different abilities are a very good take on the theme and play very well with that metroidvania feel. Very good entry!

Had a fun time with this!

Only thing that's lacking is that I can't listen to the tapes :stuck_out_tongue: :vhs:

If you'll ever produce a post-jam version it would be fun if the player could change background-music whenever acquiring a new cassette. :musical_note:

The lava-segment reminded me of a similar level in the Flinstones game for the NES I used to play eons ago.

Inspired by that I made such a scene myself to one of my first games as a kid. Undoubtedly it's a trope that's been used countless times.

You implemented the feel of urgency nicely and I like that you had to use all the acquired skills to pass.

Challenging, yet with a nice variety of movement with good character themes.
