made by LDJam user 374995 for Ludum Dare 54 (COMPO)

Gallery is a game in which you walk through an art gallery, trapped in each room by unknown forces until you photograph enough installations, while your phone is low on storage.

Controls: - RIGHT CLICK to swap between gallery and camera view - LEFT CLICK in camera view to take a photo - Q,E or SCROLL to select photos in gallery view - F to delete selected photo (F to confirm, or Q/E/SCROLL to cancel)

Walk up to black doors to open them, if you have all photos in the room.

Made in Unity for WebGL. Models made in Blender, some materials with Materialize, images in GIMP.

Note: Enable hardware acceleration for best results. camview.png galleryview.png

Good game, I like how it looks. The art pieces also look sufficiently otherworldly to be considered modern art so good job on that. I love the premise as well lol, but I can't get past the third door, I might be stupid or something, I tried taking a photo of the requirements, I tried getting two of the objects in the same shot. I did feel a bit slow tho (not too big of a deal)
Edit: I got less stupid and played through the whole game, very fun! Definitely a super interesting puzzle game, I would definitely play a continued version of this!!!

Very cool concept. Trying to figure out the best shot angle is fun. I managed to complete all the rooms with no problem. The movement speed is indeed very slow but for a short game with small areas, it is not an issue. But in case you wanted to expand on the game with a lot more rooms and longer corridors I think it would be good to have a faster movement speed. Unless you are going for some kind of a spooky feel with dark areas and all that then the slowness would fit.

Cool game overall. Nice work!

I really liked it! The final mechanic where your camera can also change the world is a great idea. I think it could be a bigger game, good job 👍

Damn the mechanics are cool and the puzzles were very well designed. You could definitely turn this into a full game if you had some art to take pictures of, more puzzles, and maybe a story (lots of asks, I know, I just think this could be really a really cool game). Had so much fun playing! Very good game!

Getting the right angle for the pictures is pretty good! The UI *feels* good.
I wish there was some shader on the black screen between the rooms that changed when the photos are taken.

I'll be honest, the premise didn't sound like a game I would like.
But after playing for some levels and getting to the part where you have to capture multiple objects by finding the right angle was rewarding.

I like the difficulty progression of the game. It's easy to get used to the controls and mechanics.

I do feel the lack of sound. Some simple music in the background could fix that. A simple sfx for taking a picture would give some action feedback to the player.

Good work on the theme front too.

Extra points for making the web export of the game.

Heh, I got stuck on the block covering the banana, for a bit. Since I was able to backtrack I still felt I found 2 quite good spots for urn+banana, but none of them was accepted by the door :/

Great concept and really fun! Would love to play something like this but more fleshed out!

A rare embedded Ludum Dare page game! Puzzles were fuuun, photographing mechanic also really interesting. Could've played even longer, though I got stuck in the third door for awhile. It would make it more clear if you shut down the doors after walking into a new room? An awesome puzzle game

The game is really fun, but when I open the phone the mouse cursor appear and I can't really move the camera correctly after that. The idea and execution is well made beside that

I like the mechanics, it's cool having to think about camera angles to capture the right shots (kind of reminds me of Pokemon Snap).

One suggestion: at the start of the game I got confused because I was trying to take pictures in previous levels. It might be good to block off past areas or remove the old items if they aren't going to work for future puzzles.

Great game, love the take on the theme. Loved the puzzles a lot. The graphics are simple, but work really well for an art gallery, so nicely done.

Very interesting idea, I like the puzzle and the simple layout of the game. I with there was a bit of sound to make the mood more interesting.
Great entry overall. GG.

This game is soooo cooool. It reminds me of Superliminal, which is definitely a great thing. Good job. I'm definitely jealous, heh. =)

It seems like you hard-coded which object is required for each door, I think a lot of people's inclination would be to take pictures of objects with them to the next room since you can delete individual pictures in the list.

Should've defined the objects as types and have the doors require types instead of specific objects.

Pretty neat game overall though! I will probably make a little VR fork of this one :)

Alright, did it, here's a little playthrough of my VR fork:

Pretty fun stuff!
Had to correct a couple things since grabbing part of the main camera for the screenshots wasn't working in VR, so instead I added a specific render texture camera for that bit. :)

Definitely the most innovative compo game I've played this Jam so far. The Red Object mechanic I didn't really understand my first time round, but on playback it is by far the most interesting part of the game. It makes me excited to try out this kind of mechanic in other ways! Really wish there was some sounds. Even just a camera click would have been very nice, but there is never enough time is there haha.

Oh, Camera capturing puzzle within the art station is a great concept for the theme! Perfect idea and implementation.

I am a huge fan of games like this, and it was an especial surprise to see one as a Compo entry.

When I realized you had to take a picture of two vases at once to continue on I got a buzz that I only feel with a select few games, like Outer Wilds and Nodecore.
You have a really interesting but simple core mechanic, that could probably be drawn out to make a really good post-jam game. I saw you had started adding depth with the red blocks at the end, but it felt like it was rushed a bit, and as a consequence took me a few playthroughs to understand.

Sounds effects would have been nice, but those are hard for compo. Have you ever used sfxr, or (my personal favorite) [jfxr](https://jfxr.frozenfractal.com/)?

With that aside though, great work! This is one of my favorites games this LD
