Gear Mania: a steampunk adventure

How does it work?

inventory.png

The game is an "IDLE" game where the hero moves automatically to the nearest enemy. Your role is to collect and organize its bag. You can grab items, rotating them, use them or drop them away.

Controls

  • Left Click: pick item on ground
  • Left Click (inventory): drag item
  • Space when dragging item: rotating it clockwise
  • Right Click (inventory): use item, if it can be used

You died? Don't worry!

shop.png

If your hero died, every items in the bag are sold. This way, you can go to the shop and buy some upgrades to get stronger during your run.

Graphics and music were really good, but it gets a bit repetitive since you die very quickly depending on how many robots spawn.

Lots of potential! The game design was definitely not really anywhere yet, so I didn't really stick around until my space was truely limited. Wasn't sure if my buffs were applying, or when crits occurred, or what perception could really accomplish. Nice shapes and art for the shapes

Amazing concept! Maybe I am a bit biased because our team was very close to doing a very similar thing haha. Love the steampunk theme, all the items look great, and the bag organizing is fun. I think some variety in the enemies, and maybe a bit faster pace could help bring this game to a great state. Either way, awesome entry!

I'm thrilled with the gameplay, the artwork, and the sound effects; the game is incredibly enjoyable. I'd definitely like to see more levels. However, I do have a couple of suggestions. After each battle ends, I wish there was more time to rearrange my inventory and pick up items. Sometimes, items go out of sight before I can grab them. Additionally, instead of just the name of the item, it would be better if we could see the UI to understand how much space each item would occupy more directly. Lastly, I believe players could engage more in space planning if we had the option to change the orientation of items. Overall, keep up the excellent work!

@pipima thank you! Like that was said in the description, it is possible to rotate items while dragging them by pressing the spacebar. But every of your suggestions was planned in our scope... but we didn't had enough time to implement them  It totally would have been a great improvement of the UX flow and the game loop, but we were too late.

First off, it's absolutely splendid. Really, gorgeous.

Controls were simple, straightforward. I grasped the gameplay loop right away. It makes sense with the theme.

Why is it IMPOSSIBLE? Seriously, I've been playing for 15 minutes, and I still can't kill more than two enemies in a playthrough. I haven't even gotten to the part where I manage inventory, because I inevitably die before my bag gets remotely full. The first upgrades did nothing: my damage stayed the same, the damage I took stayed the same. And why are they so expensive? It takes 6+ runs to buy the first level of each!

For an "idle" game, it demands a lot of attention!

So there are some pretty glaring balance issues, but I think with a bit of tweaking this could be fun!

(Now at 20+ minutes, I just bought Armor L2, and I still take 5 damage a hit. I'm rage quitting :P)

Really liked the art and sound, as others have mentioned. I would have liked the pace of the game to be a bit faster, and felt like it took too long to get going. But I like where it was headed and how much you could do with it. Good luck getting 20 votes!
