Fun game, tight loop, nice aesthetic.
I like how PuzzleScript expresses itself through my code:
"I'll make your whole logic in two lines."
"I guess I can do animations but that'll cost extra"
"Why do you mean COUNTING?"
I just saw your comment on my submission "Fruit Fitting Frenzy" after playing your game! You can reach out to me on twitter at @GwenDekker or discord, `dekkaru`. Would love to talk about the games more!
I liked the puzzles, the visuals, the pacing, the transitions. It made me feel really clever solving them. And this is spoken from someone who has played their fair share of puzzle games.
The only thing I wish for is more of this! And more mechanics.
The pixel art flowers were beautiful.
Anyway : compliments.
Managed to complete them all.
Unfortunately for some reason I can't rate at all, I'll return once I can.
Edit: Returned and rated
I didn't really get what I was supposed to do in the beginning, but quite fast figured that out.
Also, it tok me some time to figure the rules/controls. Adding them to description would help.
I wouldn't say it's the intended experience, but it's fun to meddle with PuzzleScript so feel free to go for it :-)
- The goal was clear and the loop was engaging.
- Some levels felt harder than others, maybe being able to select a level could let people adjust their mind and get inspiration for other levels they get stuck on.
Edit: Went back to this game and figured it out.
My only issue is with the no audio, while I understand that maybe its hard to add or you don't have experience I can 100% say that even simple sounds (rubbing cloth, hitting something) contribute a lot to the experience and how much I enjoy a game. If you want to look at making audio Audacity is a free program for mic recording and sound editing and Jonas Tyroller has a good video going over how to make some simple audio and how to use Audacity.
The only other thing I could think of is maybe displaying some congratulations screen or the player gets a golden flower each time they beat a level and it shows how many out of the total amount they got. This would let me the player know how far I am in and stave off the feeling of failure after trying the same level over and over again.
Still though very good job!
It does have simple effects embedded but I disabled them because COMPO rules it out.
The code is there actually, you can just uncomment the SOUNDS section if you need them.
PS: What if do you limit the number of moves?
Was very tough for me at first, but then I got the right mindset.
May be some tutorial or display of the controls on the left and right would be cool
My only gripe with it is that you have to think all of your moves in advance before removing any tiles. And then just execute the solution. Usually in puzzle games when I'm stuck, I'm just fooling around messing with different objects and seeing how they work together, but here I needed a different approach.
But that's my only criticism. Otherwise, the game is perfect. Great job!
Hope a feature could be added to remember the last edit and show as a dashed box, so that I can have some reference after restart a level.
Overall, it's a fantastic game! Well done!
I like this "hardcore" puzzle a lot. Maybe I'll try it again later to see if any solutions come to my mind.
I wish there was some sound effects, like a chunky thud when clearing a tile, or a little bonk or bloop when moving a flower. maybe a sploosh when the flower gets potted.
Great puzzles, and well done!
