I wish I could zoom out (a game for Ludum Dare 54)

Vandalism is rife at the local museum. Works of art have been ruined!

You are an art restoration expert and your job is to authentically restore these works of art to their original condition. You are a well-respected and trustworthy professional, so nobody will be questioning your work. You only have your own perfectionism to judge you*.

There's just one 'small' problem: you are a tiny pixie and you can only see a limited amount of canvas space at any one moment. You'll have to use your expert judgement in gauging proportions.

I know it would be a bit chaotic, but would be cool if there was some sort of support for choosing to restore vandalism from strangers. That would remind me a bit of Curiosity: What's Inside the Cube?

Fantastic game, arrow keys to scroll horizontally would be great. I probably should have looked at this painting before attempting it, knew there was a pearl earring in there somewhere..

this game is SUCH A GOOD CONCEPT! it's so funny, i love it so much! Here's my janky contribution, it's really funny trying to measure out proper proportions with the dinky zoomed in screen. I ctrl+z so much instinctively haha

What a great concept! :laughing: This was super fun, and I love seeing everyone's attempts!
The game was well implemented and I like how you kept a limited palette and the tools simple

Here are my attempts. I realized as soon as I started that I don't really know what horses look like :sweat_smile:

This was probably the most fun I've had this Ludum Dare. What a perfect idea for this theme!

I was initially going to just showcase my art, but after I ~~ruined~~ made a perfect restoration of the mona lisa I knew I had to record myself playing the entire game.

Indeed, a big thanks to everyone who played and particularly everyone who shared their results :) — it's nice to know that other people have the same *'elite'* artistic skills as me (*cough cough*)! There have been some excellent jobs done too; I'm sure they would have come out perfect if only you could have zoomed out :D. (How many people felt themselves reaching for Ctrl+Z or Ctrl+minus?)

Admittedly it took us a lot longer than usual to think of the concept for this game; the theme this time was quite tricky! I'm very glad to hear that we seem to have managed to make something decent of it anyway :).

@100th-coin Thanks very much for taking the time to make a recording! It's quite interesting to actually *watch* someone play your game; glad you eventually discovered the brush sizes and sorry we didn't include the background colour in the palette for the horse painting (I think this was accidental, but maybe it turned into an interesting challenge to cover up your mistakes anyway? :D).
