Made with a custom engine
Post-jam patches:
03.10.2023: fixed exploitable bug when dropping elements above the top of the game screen.
03.10.2023: fixed ability to build on top of laundry thread. (Nobody noticed, right??)
03.10.2023: placing an element near the reset button won't trigger it anymore! You can now be your greedy self and build right under it.
07.10.2023: support for mobile. You can now play on smaller screens! The game is exactly the same, only minor adjustments to the UI layout.

Also impressive that this was a custom engine :) Great job!
Really enjoyed the game! it had some really good vibes and really drew me into trying to create the biggest thing possible. it was really relaxing and fun, and the audio was amazing.
My highest was 40.
This was very relaxing with high replay value. Definitely got me keep trying. Very good entry and fitting to theme!
I love relaxing game like this, it reminds me of Townscaper but with an actual goal. And the art and music are :ok_hand: :ok_hand: :ok_hand:
ça peu aller sur steam ! facile !
High score of 77. I think I just got lucky lol.

The relaxing theme music goes very well with the game.
Great job!
I tried playing it on my phone and it worked like a charm!
Too bad the camera doesn't span or zoom out to allow us to build event higher.
The vibe of your game is really good. The art and the music goes really well together, event though the music loop get a little bit boring after a while. A longer loop would have been awesome.
The gameplay is really simple yet fun and challenging. A great entry!
*P.S. My highest was only 47...*
I had a lot of fun with this! It is very fun to play!
I love the music and the art it makes it a lovely homey vibe, it was fun to learn what all the combos for buildings where. still not sure I saw them all but it was an enjoyable game.
All in all wonderful game. Thanks for the share. Have a good day.
Was about to reach a count of 30 additions.
Great game, glad to see people get together to ultimately put a ton of personality and passion into this one.
Really great atmosphere and very fun to play multiple times. Lovely, delicate, inspiring. I like it a lot ⭐
Thank you for this experience <3
(update: ohhh wow !spoiler!! the extra musical layer with the parabola <3 <3 omg I got goosebumps <3)

Amazing work!
I did encounter a bit of an exploit letting me place infinite grocery stores just outside the game screen. XD
I fixed the exploit of building outside the game screen at the top an hour ago or so. I guess you had discovered it before that! I also saw your comment on my post about the bug :)
Oh and here is my high score, I know we can go further:
Indeed I could see an infinitely scrolling up version of this game working, maybe with a background changing with altitude, cloud layers, starts etc. And when you're finally stuck it could scroll back down slowly showing you your tower... As you said, for the jam we wanted to keep it simple and in a limited space. Maybe we should try it a post-jam version!
I wish it would detect for me when my tower was "stuck", I ended up with a lot of situations where I felt like I could keep going but all the options were X'd when I tried.

As for the scoring system, I'm not going to give it all away, as it's the whole point of the game to figure out how it works, but here's a tip:
- All the pink, yellow and orange buildings are residential modules, and they earn points when they're next to, on top of or under a "special" module (like the flower store, or the museum, for example), and depending on the characteristics of each special module, you'll get some points :) Good luck !
Absolutely incredible entry to the game jam! Really impressive <3
Edit: Finally squeaked past 120. I've played a bunch of great games this Ludum Dare, but this is the one I keep coming back to.

The game is absolutely addicting. I wish there was a way you can scrap some parts that can be offered on the left every now and then, but I definitely enjoy strategizing with my buildings and such. The art style, especially the colour scheme is absolutely beautiful. The music is also so calming and truly contributes to the cozy atmosphere.
Amazing job!!
EDIT: PLSSS I CANT DO ANYTHING BETTER AH

To the sky!

must be all five stars

Have you ever heard of the game 'townscraper'? Your game really reminds of that, but with more interesting gameplay. Really amazingly well done! I absolutely loved it :D
Tried to launch it on my phone, but it is stuck on loading screen(
Would you consider building an apk? This game seems like fun time-killer, which I would love to have in my pocket

Good relaxing music and soothing sea vibes. Thanks for the game, well done!

I like this gameplay concept a lot. Totally would play a full version of city building like this.
Art is good for this one surely, but if 2d I would love to have something more moody and detailed for a full game. It can be 3d, it can have other mechanics too, sorry for being pushy but this concept really rocks!
It resonates with me a lot so it's all 5

@pen-island-games Thank you! I might try an iOS build when I muster the courage (it's a custom engine, so not as simple as hitting a "build for ios" button, but not that hard either). In the meantime I found that the web version works quite well on my iPhone, it probably will work on yours as well :)
Happens both in Chrome and Opera. Here is the screen with error log
- Calm game, so sound could be even calmer
- Add game detection to when you can't add anything anymore?
- Remove +2 indication when you can't place element
- Have small indications on what does the element need to be placed
- Option to shuffle option at the cost of points or even buildings? It would defeat the point, yes, but you would be even more invested in the town
- Limited space... oh no I understand
