Superstar Surgeon: a Sensitive Subject is an arcade-y :sparkles: audio-visual experience :sparkles:. It's not a rhythm game, but music is a big part of it. So make sure to play with sound on if you can!

In this game, you'll be playing as the lovable Superstar Surgeon, as he tries to comfort one of his patient's loved one of their passing. He will need your help to shoot out the right words to use, and defeat his inner demons.

Your words will affect your patient's loved one in one out of 3 endings! Try to listen to all 8 unique verses!

That music was sick! Even though the theme is not that bright, you managed to deliver a good story with a bit of humor. I also liked that there are multiple endings, that gives replayability to the game. I wish that there was an option to skip already watched cutscenes to see those endings faster. Great entry!

I just added 2 QOL features for replaying the game: There's a fast-forward button in every cutscene now, and you can press R anytime in the game to restart from the beginning. For the record, I added these while the Jam is still going.

Bro, this was the best game I've played in this Jam thus far! Such an amazing time! First of all, the music slaps, shit goes so hard! It's like listening to a Bo Burnham song, its funny and it sound amazing at the same time. Second, love the graphics and the character animations, so funny to watch the doctor sing while the loved one is in tears! Third, the game is so funny and genuinely had me laughing! Incredible game!

Dude I don't even know how I'm gonna find another jam game that gets going as much as this one did, this is a literal masterpiece, the music, gameplay, execution. everything is so well done, I played it the first time and the music immediately got me dancing, then I grabbed my guitar, played it again and jammed to it twice, I had such a fun time with this game (the lady didn't because I was too busy jamming to play the game). the story is also quite sad I hope it's not based of anything you may be dealing with, otherwise I'm sorry for whatever you may be going through and I wish both of you the best! I love this freaking game.

Hahahhaha wow!! This is really great. It's probably the funniest Ludum Dare game I've ever played, the concept is both hilarious and beautiful at the same time. Art is great looking and music is amazing (the lyrical parts especially, the writing is stellar). Gameplay is simple and works as it should to bring the whole package together. Amazing job!

Is there anything not to like here? It's hilarious, the music is great, the action which touches of pinball, the art and animation. I can't think of anything I didn't like. Maybe the theme is a bit weak? I don't care, just loved it.

Totally out of the box game, the music is incredibly catchy and the humor is clever, i played this singing, nodding and with a great smile on my face! as i said on stream i think that the actualy gameplay would have worked better as a rythm game, but good job anyway! so creative!

Wow, this game is super impressive! The theme was executed perfectly, the gameplay is simple but fun and challenging, the art and animation are great, the music and sound effects are fantastic, and the plot itself has a good amount of humor while also providing some thoughtful narrative. My only nitpick is that it can be a bit hard to shoot the orbs sometimes. Maybe making the collider a bit larger than the sprite would help.

Overall, this is my favorite entry so far! Great job!

Wow this game was incredible! I love music games and this one fits into the category of games that make you feel like you're in a music video, the gameplay was simple but complimentary to the song, and the song itself was hilarious, great take on the theme, and congrats on the great game, I'd love to see more from y'all :slight_smile:

Actually a very unique and well-executed style of gameplay, and it was pretty funny. I just wish it was harder. I had to intentionally fail on my second run just to see any of the bad lines.

This is amazing, I loved the music, I loved the writing, and when you mess up and hear the doctor it's devastating T_T My only issue was with the gameplay, I found it all very random, and I had a lot of ease in passing the levels, maybe if there were more obstacles, but even so, I found it efficient and understand that time was short. Anyway, I loved the game, great job :D

Now that's some polish there! Seems you guys managed to keep well within scope and were really able to get some serious bang for your buck. Music was solid (great that you actually got real vocals too) and the "bad deliveries" got a chuckle out of me. Got 3 different endings (100%, mixed, and 0%), not sure if there were more, but it's always nice to see a jam game with some replay value! I think my only real suggestion would be to find a way to make some of the physics less uh... unpredictable lol. There were a few times that I got a level that was pretty slow and easy, only to have the same level on the next playthrough have _wild_ physics that were dang near impossible to snipe. Great job overall though!

I loved the concept, the art is very good and the gameplay is smooth! The music and lyrics are great and fit very well together~ I was sad when I got the bad ending, but I guess there was no way to avoid it (╥﹏╥)

It was soooo good, I love it ! Music rocks, humor is good, graphism and animation do the work very well. I always wanted to make a musical comedy video game one day and this one is definitely gonna go on my reference list to do it.

Oh wow, this song is a proper banger, I loved it. Everything was smooth and polished. It gave me a good Wario ware vibe. Now I'm sad, that when I got the horrible news, the doctor was not singing.
The only issue I had was one of the plus balls getting stuck and it was impossible in the given time to shoot them all. Saying that, awesome entry, good job.

When I saw the game's theme, I thought to myself, "It's really, really hard to tackle a topic like this and make it a fun/humorous game with taste. I hope it'll go ok." But you all erased all my concerns the moment I heard the first verse with the talkbox/vocode-y vocals combined with the pumped up music.

Witty and classy lyrics that leave you with a bit of melancholy inside even as you're laughing left me laughing as well amongst the melancholy. (I can definitely see why someone above mentioned Bo Burnham!) The characters are cute and expressive, all of the different art elements fit a consistent style, and combining the art with the music adds to the overall vibes perfectly.

The music's stuck in my head (in a good, catchy way) now that I've played through all the endings (I had to check out each of the different verses to see what would happen). Thank you for a great game - you guys did a fantastic job here.

Yooooo ! That is "There Is No Game - DJ Game song" level.
This kind of humor with this subject is really well done. Especially in the ending cutscenes, I think the "deeper" ending tone is exactly what it needed for making a full experience.

Wow, what a really cool and polished overall experience, this really blew me away. I love the way how you mix a rather simple but very polished game with story telling and also the music and the overall progress. Also very nice art and graphics. This is really not only playing a game but also experience a story. I also like how the music is involved. I only have one wish: I like the playing this mixture of pinball and shooting so much that it is really a pity that is so short. Would be so cool to have an endless mode with a score. But I totally understand that this would not find into the overall game design and story aspect. Anyway, I totally like the shooting part - maybe you can make another game concentrating on this, would love to play it. :smiley: So really great work!

I LOVE everything about it, the gameplay is easy to figure out and clearly explained, I love that even the instructions pictures are really well done and catchy. Wow, I can honestly say that IMO this is by far the best game I have played so far in this jam. Everything is top notch: idea, music, art and implementation. The gameplay mechanics were simple and yet interesting, but it was everything else that stood out to me. The topic is difficult and some of the lines are quite dark, but I still had to replay it aiming for the "bad" ending.

I've had trouble rating other games 5 stars even in single categories, but, for me, this was easily a 5 star game all over. Keep up the great stuff. This is definitely a gem of the jam!

I was not logged in while playing it, but my oh my... I was having a bad moment and playing the game helped me! :heart: The only trouble I had was aiming at times, but might be me being slow in the second level I believe [did get the good end I believe~] but the time given makes up for it. The music combined with the art aand the lyrics was very well done. Its not too long either nor too short, maybe... I will play to get all endings!

This was the most mood-satisfactory (and hilarious!) 1-2 minute experience I tried so far here!
