Dang, I'm impressed with this one! Incredibly short, but very sweet. I really love how this game has you using all of the buttons at your disposal to go as fast as possible instead of relying on just one technique Very well done, would love to see more of it!

@cruise-elroy Thanks for playing! Nice time- although, that's just how long it takes to deliver. To finish the game you have to make the return trip! *There is supposed to be some text that appears in-game to point that out but it's bugged. :-p

Very charming visuals, and the audio is also great. I had a hard time to make use of all buttons in combination with each other so I hit a lot of red blocks haha

Water dashing feels really good to use due to all the bubbles and sound effects.
Overall a great entry, well done!

This has a great feel for a jam game. The ... cabbage submarine? ... is just responsive enough for these tight bends. Unfortunately, I wasn't very good at it, so I won't be posting my score :)

@hacksawunit ahhh, whoops, I'll just have to do a re-run later in that case :V

5 - 8 - 634 cause I didn't figure out I could dash until the very last room! grrr. Great submission, the cutscene?? are you kidding me??? so good! i would have loved to see a little more variation in the tileset, but the backgrounds were phenomenal, the art in general was so good. The music was great and the "Go back!" caught me off guard. Great work!

Good lord, I was not ready for the return sequence! That was unbelievably exciting!

In my later speedrun attempts, the screen occasionally didn't follow the player immediately, which lead to me requiring off-screen movement to keep an optimal pace.

I recorded my play session. This game is incredibly fun. All around, marvelous work. Here's my recorded runs for your feedback needs:

Very nice! I always love your "short n sweet" style of games.

Puttering around feels very good by itself, although trying to use both WASD and arrows at the same time got a little confusing lol. I love the artwork and music, it's a very comfy game. I like how getting hit only costs you time.

The only major issue I ran into was that I was going too fast for the screen transitions to keep up. At one point I had completely gone through an entire screen before the first transition finished. The specific screen was just a short bend around the corner, so it was very easy to break the transitions there. My proposed fix would be to *always* force the camera to keep the player character in view, no matter what else is going on with the transitions.

This was super impressive. I think the most important thing with games like this is to just get the controls feeling right, and you nailed that. Just the act of moving around is super well-implemented and fun to learn/practice. I think using both WASD and arrow keys was a neat idea and adds a nice layer of complexity to the otherwise simple movement, so that was a neat idea.

The art and music are also great, everything was very cohesive. The sped up music during the "go back" portion in particular was a nice touch. Amazing work overall!

Except for the innovation and theme (it's like another 2d platformer) all rest is 4/5 or 5/5

Awesome compo entry Kirk! This seems like another one of your classic jam entries: a unique control scheme / gimmick that you could easily build into a commercial release.

My first attempt was 4 min 15 seconds :grimacing: but now that I've figured out how to dash I'm gonna finish way faster next time haha!

There seems to be a little jank when you land in the lava for example and get stuck for a bit, I think that's the intended mechanic but it didn't translate well for me.

Nonetheless very impressive entry for a compo, would love to see this game expanded out to have more levels. I'd pick it up on Steam like I did with Cardhoard too!

Love the SFX on the submarine btw.

Great job Kirk :D

6.33.607 --- pretty fun actually --- I like the water dash mechanic it's pretty fresh --- careful you wrote "W and D to ‘walk" on your pages when it's actually _**A**_ & D --- I had a bit of a hard time figuring out it was right arrowkey that had to be pressed to pass to the next dialogue scene --- beyond that I really like all the hand-drawn typoand graphical style --- works really well, GG :) :sparkles:

Cute, and polished, for a compo! It takes a little time to properly use the controls, but as there is no time up, this is fine to just explore the game at one's rythm and finish with a very long timer (more than an hour's quarter for me ha ha). It was funny to play, so, good job!

Fun game. I found myself almost exclusively using the arrow keys instead of WASD without realizing which might've made it a bit more challenging than it should've been but I still enjoyed it. Loved the handwritten notes on the map. Very amusing

I haven't been able to figure out how to play it very effectively but this is really fun and feels very polished! Combining WASD and arrow keys is a cool idea.

This needs some more ratings.

Fun little game! Lovely pixel art, and music is great! From the game design perspective the game turned out to be super speed-runnable, I see you left some corners to keep in mind for players who want to run against the clock, that's a nice touch. All in all, the game is so polished and good, I have nothing to complain about. :)
