Crazy Ambulance is the newest gig economy app. Now instead of delivering groceries or whatever, you can take on a career in the jetsetting world of emergency medical services! To take a job simply park in from of a citizen experiencing a medical emergency (denoted by the colored circle), once the patient has carefully boarded, drive them to the one hospital which is covered by their insurance, and park so they can disembark. Make sure to hit some pedestrians on the way, you'll get a commission on all their injuries!

Controls:

WASD - Drive
Esc - Pause/Unpause
(while paused)
R - Restart
X - Quit
M -Toggle Music
N - Toggle Sound
F - Toggle Fullscreen

NOTE: I have uploaded a post-jam version to itch, the changes in it are: - Added Grace to medics so that they can't get stuck loading a patient.
- Reduced the amount the camera sticks to the van. - Tweak to the physics so the car loses less momentum in air.

The WebGL version on itch is the original I uploaded on the deadline, if you want to play the postjam version it is a separate download.

Over all, there's something there! Your camera could use a bit of forgiveness (having it follow at the exact same distance and stuff is _very_ nausea inducing, at least for me), and there were a few physics bugs. My real issue is once I found and picked up a dude, I stopped being able to move, so couldn't deliver! But I liked the actual gameplay and would like to see more.

I agree with everything from the above post. There is definitely a game there! I would work on the controls a bit more to make it a little better to drive around and the smooth camera would help. I would also add a brake :) but overall, great submission and great gameplay loop!

I agree the physics aren't really what I'd like them to be. Some of that is the code, some of that is how I built the world. I fixed the medic freezing issue in the postjam version, I wish I caught that in my limited testing. The camera is also a little less aggressive in the postjam version, but I think the physics add an unavoidable jitteryness/awkwardness which would be hard to fix without more major changes.

You made a lot for a compo entry, good job! Controls and camera are a bit jiggling but the animation of picking up people is everything hahaha. Brought me some memories of crazy taxi from Dreamcast era.

Super great game, but the physics and the camera seems a bit rought.
The ragdoll and the throw animation make the game super fun to play.
And the concept remind me of GTA:SA ambulance mission.

Ok, the guy throwing another guy in the back of the ambulance got me laughing out loud. The sound effects when hitting people on the street was very funny too!

I played the compo version, and maybe I should try the latest version. Implementing a game that relies so much on physics is definitely a fun challenge, but also a risky one :p The car controls are a bit off. I think that the controls to turn when going backwards should be inverted.

Other than that, the city is well designed, you did some excellent work with the visuals! It would have been nice to have some more sound effects, but those that are there are pretty nice. I didn't notice there was music at first, but I remembered you mentioning controls for the music in the description. It turns out the volume is very low and I had to push my settings to the max to hear it.

Cool game ! The physic is a bit wonky, but it's really nice to have a whole town to explorer. Good job :slight_smile:

lovely graphics and I love the idea, the animations with the ragdoll are hilarious. the driving is unfortunately a bit clunky and I think one delivery got stuck in the trunk animation, not sure if it's something I did wrong. anyway well done!
