Tower of Idols by simex

made by simex for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

I return for my 8th LD jam!

This time with my first solo 3D project, I’m not really sure what happened this time around as the main gameplay loop changed about 4 times throughout the jam.

Overall I’m really happy with the result and I hope you enjoy playing it!

The best game I've played thus far! The idea is really good, and the execution is solid!

A clever idea coupled with a masterful execution, this is on par with a Steam quality game.
All of this in only 72 hours and alone. The game and its creator deserve our attention and respect, will play again tomorrow!

Probably the best game I've played here so far, super original and fun, and it's even pretty well polished!

Wow well done!! This is super impressive. All around great work, I hope you continue with this concept even further! This could be a great mobile game

I dig it! Really clever and original, with lots of strategic potential. It really hits its stride with more abilities and having to balance saving followers and smiting heretics.

I only wish I could have more feedback or visibility of what my moves will do - like play time forward and then reverse, or track past trajectories of pieces in flight - to break out of the "pause, play a microsecond, pause again" loop. I think it could also benefit from limiting how many moves you have access to to up the difficulty.

But that's like v2 stuff, what's there is already rock solid. Which is more than can be said for the followers' building skills!

Very fun game! The visuals are pleasing and the gameplay is enticing. I agree with @tyler-law or @anstabo you should definitely expand on this idea and release it as a fully fledged game :)

I really loved this game! So much strategy in this crazy physics simulation. I haven't played anything like it. Great work!

I think this is a very very solid entry here.
The idea is unique, the execution is cute and playful (even though human people are getting squished  ), and the game does a fantastic job at making you FEEL like a god. You can control time, which works really well to plan out your next moves, and even have some magical powers!

The game has maaajor Besiege vibes, and I think it plays to those as a strength.

I wish there was more form to the idol. Something a little more human-shaped perhaps? rather than just one giant rectangular monolith. Also some of the shards of stone are just a bit too tiny to properly manage

Overall I really don't have a lot of criticism beyond the above nitpicks because the execution was very good. I'd definitely play something like this if it was fully released, with more powers maybe? and some polish around the edges.

Beautiful, unique and fun. All things one wants in a video game. Lots of interesting strategy and concepts, 10/10 would play again!

Definitely interesting idea that goes well with the theme. Camera control was little clumsy for me which was spoiling the fun a little bit. Maybe rotating around world center (idol) would work better? Otherwise quite polished, good job!

Really cool idea! Curving the rocks around a little at a time to thread the needle between villagers to hit a heathen feels really good

Nice - a really solid gameplay loop with constant new additions, I like it! It's fun having to work with the random pattern of the debris to protect your civilians (or destroy bandits), and I'm a big fan of the shield as well (it saved me so many times!). I think the overall aesthetic works really well for the idea, and the application of the theme is really clever. Great job!

Really nice game. The 3D elements looks good, music is nice and the whole idea behind the game is cool. Camera controls feel a bit off for me. Besides that, good job with your first solo 3D game!

Fantastic entry! I think the gameplay is really unique and I'd love to see it expanded into a full game! My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to start, but I've learned to accept that from game jam games

This is excellent, probably the best game I’ve played this jam. Really good mechanic and very polished. The ways you build on the core idea (moving atoms, multiple layers, multiple actions) are really good additions. Love the look and the music. Difficulty curve is pretty brutal, I’d like to see a slower introduction of really complex stages. And some of the later ones are so complex that it’s a bit impossible to predict what’s going to happen, so I used trial and error quite a bit. I guess that’s inherent with these mechanics.
