I really loved playing this game, why doesn't it have more reviews?
Apart from the UI color choice it is fun and well written. I also like the humor.
I'm really curious on how you programmed the leaking information system, I was amazed when partial information leaked gets clarified when other phreses are not censored properly.
Unfortunatly I didn't manage to finish the full game becase of what I think was a bug that made me hear the censor noise even when the American agent was talking.
The idea is fresh, fun to play an mostly well implemented!
Good job!
Seriously I like your game - an unusual gameplay with a clever mood. Technically I guess that you used a Text To Speech application so as to generate Rusian voice, and it works as expected, comrad. Maybe you could add a tutorial (I know that you explained the main gameplay), but it is not always easy at start. A good entry ++
The voice seems to be out of sync with the text reveal, but when you're pressing the button, both the audio and the text get censored at the same time, resulting in different pieces of info getting censored. It's confusing, but I'm sure it wasn't by design: getting those to sync up must've been pretty hard.
But other than that
This is an ingenious concept, I can't get over how much I like this. It's one of these prototypes that make your brain immediately go CLICK as soon as you get the idea, and then you just can't stop smiling because you saw something so original and fresh. I want more of this. I want a full blown Papers Please-style job simulator about just this! Definitely one of my favorite entries.
Bless the Mother Russia!
p.s. listening to full audio again is way too long
Unfortunately, I caught bug: when evaluation started and space was pressed sound of noise did not stop.
Second, it would be nice to skip evaluation straight to results, and tutorial part too.
Game is fun and engaging. Please make more:)
Перейду на русский. Хорошая работа, товарищ. Теперь американцы будут считать, что наше устройство подавления сигнала - простая игра. Они своими руками будут дестабилизировать собственные трансляции. За СССР!
(Rough translation. I say nothing suspicious, no need to translate it. Go on your way. USA forever!)
In any case, excellent job and I loved how the *shhhhh* loop was kept short and *shhhhh*, and fit under *shhhhh* minutes. Congrats!
Thank you all for all the positive feedback . Thanks to you I have started considering expanding on this idea. In case I really do decide to do something more with this, I want to be able to notify you all. So I have setup a mailing list. Maybe I will never use it, but just in case I decide to do something with this idea, you will be the first to know. This is the link to subscribe to that mailing list: https://russianconnect.substack.com/
Thanks again you all.
The only improvement I can think of is a short delay + notification after it does the replay because there were a couple times I wasn't ready for the next segment xD
- Lovely immersive tutorial.
-There was a narrative that was intriguing, amazing voice acting
- the UI/game elements that needed the player's attention, definitely got it.
- I would change up the scene in some simple but very visual way for the player to be able to see the difference between showtime and evaluation time.
- I would also love it if I had a bit more time to absorb the story.
Please keep me in the loop somehow, I would love to help out more if you need it.
Thank you for your offer to help. Since nothing is clear and I am first finding out how much interest there really is (via signups for the newsletter for example) - I am not sure how I will continue with this. But maybe I will come back to your offer.
Personally the whole battery and recharge thing is something I don't really like. Perhaps find a different way to phrase it better, whilst achieving the same thing. OR intentionally try keep certain bits of a message to go through. Intentionally causing miscommunication.
For example "The Soviets at the moment are not very strong!" to have it censored to "The Soviets at the moment are --- very strong!"
God bless Mother Russia!
The game loop was very simple, but it was enjoyable to play and not boring in the slightest. Mainly because the dialogue was well written (and I just finished a game of Twilight Struggle yesterday, so I'm in the theme :D).
The core mechanic was very stable and there was not a single point where audio was not synchronized with the text. I always had problems with these kinds of things, so…
Very well done!
