Dogs++ by Jezzamon
Dogs++
You can never have too many dogs on your head

Play it here! (HTML5)
Dogs++ is a puzzle platformer about creating an unstable tower of dogs on your head.
Controls
:dog2: Left & Right Arrow Keys / A & D - Move
:dog2: Space / Z - Jump
:dog2: Up & Down Arrow Keys / W & S - Switch which dog you are controlling
:dog2: R - Reset level
:dog2: M - Mute music
Shouldn't be too hard, but if you get stuck, I put together a playthrough that shows you how to beat each level! https://youtu.be/nOrJ-fCJ1ws
List of bug fixes / porting changes:
- Skip frames so the game doesn't slow down on slower machines
- Remove random variance in dog speed that I forgot to remove
Let me know what you think of it! I'll be working on a post compo version with a few tweaks and extra levels, so stay tuned :)

Everything about it is great, the mechanics ideas, the music, the doggies...
Incredible work you did there !
You've come up with a fun mechanic that fits the theme and feels original, and then it feels like you've thought about the little edge cases and corners that arise from that mechanic -- what if X, what if Y, and built challenges around them.
I also appreciated the little quality-of-life things. The instructions are presented along the way instead of a page of text at the beginning. And when you finish a level, it's quick, bam, you're straight on to the next one.
There's also lovely chiptune music, which is a joy to listen to and fulfils what I think is the purpose of music in a game like this, which is to keep you playing even when something frustrating happens. And I got to the end despite constantly falling into the single-dog-plus-food-equals-failure trap, so it worked.
Really great entry. I had to give out a lot of 5s for this one, and I am jealous of your game design skills.
I think the graphics and audio really go well together. Great job!
The levels are very well designed, the visuals and music are perfect.
Great job!
One thing I thought I could do is to chain my double jump; i.e. after a jump, I wish can quick switch to another dog to jump even higher. That might add some new depth to the game.
Good job on the submission.

My only complaint is that not all dogs get bones! :(

Great entry as always though!
Seriously though, awesome mechanic. Puzzles weren't frustrating at all and were very fun ( even if the tower of pups in the last one took a while lol ). Visuals are hella cute and so was the music. Cool usage of theme as well. Selecting which dog would jump of the tower was very cool as well. I don't really have any complaints tbh. Maybe using a mechanic in one level and then being told about in the next level seemed a little annoying but that's just a nitpick at best. This is an awesome entry, especially for compo. Great job on this
except for the last level, which may have been tedious if i did it the intended way. the only 'bug' i found was that you could inch your way under a ledge and because of how the stacking works, you'll be able to drag any number of dogs along as they repeatedly hit their head and fall, and i abused this during that level to bring them all under the ceiling at the same time. (actually looking at your playthrough video, it doesn't look that bad. i may have even made it harder on myself doing it this way haha)
but lovely game in any case! the art is cute and the music is nice. great job :)

A whole game about Yoshii jumping!
Loved the mechanic to switch which pup you become on the double jump -- really clever!
Centaogs?
Puzzles were neat but simple. I'm not sure if there were some additional mechanics that you could add to make the game longer. For a jam though, this was the perfect difficulty and length!
Well done!
EDIT- WAIT! I see them now! What I thought were arms were the dogs ears! I feel dumb. I thought they were weird centaur dog things while playing the whole game!
EDIT 2 -
Time beating game - 4 minutes.
Time making giant stack of dogs in the dog playground - 20 minutes.

This is *so polished*! Go stick this on Steam, you'll get the money for Steam's game registration fees back in no time. Microsoft would like to let you know that they're interested in having this on Game Pass, you're going to get rich off of something this innovative.
What I liked the most was the music. It went very well with the cute environment of the game.
A very good idea.
Congratulations!
@zwodahs In an earlier version of the game you actually could jump multiple times in the air by continuing to split off, but it seemed like it was a bit too powerful, so I limited it to just one midair jump. But if you want to play around with it, I uploaded a special version of the game here: [jezzamon.com/dogsplusplus-jump](https://www.jezzamon.com/dogsplusplus-jump/index.html). (I made it start off at the playground level, but you can use "," or "." to switch between levels)
okay I can see why it is too powerful haha ...
I think you made the right call for sure. The puzzle would be too hard to design if you have infinite jumps.
On Safari the dog tints are not working, so it's impossible to understand which dog we control (but who uses Safari anyway ;p). I love how the dog tower tilts
