🤔Hey everyone, after a grueling 48/72-hour challenge that feels like it's straight out of the gates of hell, are you feeling completely exhausted? Have you ever found yourself stuck in the game development process, so lacking in ideas that it feels like a barren desert, leaving behind a string of 'what ifs' and regrets?

😭Inspiration appears to be just within reach, yet it remains as elusive as summoning a unicorn. The moment we believe we've captured that spark of creativity, it disappears as quickly as ink that fades away.

🤪But don't worry, in our game, you have the power to change the narrative and become the hero.

😇Our protagonist finds himself in a similar situation, scratching his head over a creative block, lost in the depths of an idea drought.

👩‍💻While his body is seemingly trapped at his desk, his mind embarks on an epic journey. In this realm of boundless imagination, you take on the role of the mastermind, igniting a whirlwind of brainstorms to create a blend of familiar and exotic tools, navigating a path to the brilliance where ideas flourish, and helping our developer break through the barrier. And then, summoning inspirations

🖱️And all it takes is a simple click of your reliable mouse!

➡️Just click on what you wanna summon and drop it where you need - smooth and simple!⬅️

➡️Just bring those inspiration pieces back to the start, no sweat, super chill!⬅️

Your game looks great, can't wait to try it!

Edit:

Insane work, super puzzle games everything is well done.
Great to see that you've found something else to summon than monsters or spells.

Congratulations on achieving all this in such a short space of time.

The audio was so super relaxing to listen to, I love the mechanics of this game, I don't think I've ever seen a game where you can pause it to think about what to do next, really nicely made and the art is super amazing! Awesome take on this jam's theme! Keep up the good work!

Very cute and clever! I would recommend putting in some kind of indication/instruction that the player is supposed to bring the puzzle pieces back to the start. Otherwise, fantastic game!

Nice game! It took me a while to realize I needed to return to the start, some kind of tutorial would be helpful. Other than that, the game play is solid with lots of room to expand and introduce new mechanics. Great work!

@goodwincek Thank you so much for loving our game, my friend! Your affirmation makes me feel that everything is worthwhile. I'm particularly proud of the puzzle design, as I've truly poured my heart into it. @punniz Your review has made my day, it's my first time co-creating a puzzle game with friends. They are all seasoned artists and programmers, while I was a newbie in this field. Your game is fantastic too—we had played it together earlier today and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

What a neat and well designed puzzle game! At first it seemed a bit to easy, but then the world 2 came and it required me to think outside of the box, which I loved! The premise of the game is also extremely relatable for everyone who participated in this jam, sometimes it is really hard to get those ideas to work! Lovely little game, great job! ^^

@sodoj That's exactly the vibe we were going for, my friend. I really hoped our game would be that perfect blend of challenging and fun, and it looks like we nailed it. For real, while we were grinding on this game, we figured other teams were probably going through the same creative agony. So we thought, why not turn this game into a gift for everyone? And just like that, our game was born. Honored that you're enjoying it – it's like getting a high-five from the gaming gods!

A game that is very comfortable to play. The graphics are soothing and the animations are top-notch. While the concept isn't groundbreaking, it's undeniably entertaining. The level design strikes the perfect balance, not too hard and not too easy, making it not only enjoyable but also surprisingly relaxing (was that intentional?). I started playing and before I knew it, one hours had flown by. Definitely a game worth praising. The best game I've ever played in LD55.

Very nice !

The levels get quite hard though, I had to place stuff at just the right timing to bypass certain restrictions, like placing a search engine platform on the line the character is about to jump to so that he can go "through" the platform.

I'm pretty sure that's not the intended way but I couldn't figure out any other solution.

Eventually reached the third quarter puzzle piece but got stuck on the second level I believe (the one with 2 folders, 1 search engine and 1 return, 1 cat and 1 roasted chicken). It felt like I needed 2 platforms/bridges or a couple more folders to do anything.

I'm not sure if the puzzle got some mishap and isn't possible or if it's just a matter of the difficulty rising way too fast, expecting the player to know special tricks when they didn't get introduced in a tutorial level.
Given how many puzzles there are it's still very impressive.

I wish I could've seen it through to the end, I wonder what happens once the four quarters are completed.

@patatenouille Hey there! I'm beyond grateful you're diggin' our game so much and took the time to shoot us this feedback—it's like gold for our game-dev souls.

Now, about that difficulty. My bad if the game's been a bit of a head-scratcher; we aimed for simple fun, but seems like we might've misfired on the 'simple' part. We'll take this as a learning and level up our game design skills for the next round.

As for item placement, yeah, some items need to be set down while you're on the move to bust through. But here's a pro tip: you can always pause the game to place your items. It's like taking a strategic timeout in sports, and it'll save you a ton of hassle.

Regarding that level you're stuck on (I'm guessing it's Level 3-3), I've gone over our design docs and the game with a fine-toothed comb, and I'm confident the resources you've got are enough to push through. If it's still feeling like a brick wall, might be you missed some interconnected details in the earlier levels. Maybe take a breather, grab a snack, and dive back in with fresh eyes.

Anyway, thank you from the bottom of our game-loving hearts for playing our game, and I hope it brings you buckets of joy!

@kanity Thank you so much for loving our game! Your kind words have our artist, @kerosuta, doing happy dances – she's almost bouncing off the walls. She poured her heart and soul into this project, because let's face it, that theme interface is where first impressions are made, and it's been weighing on her like a boss-level challenge. @uniowl Your love for our art style is like music to our ears! Let me let you in on a little secret, but don't spread it around, okay? Our artists chose this style because, well, it's a sneaky way to take it down a notch and avoid overworking themselves... because creating all this stuff within a 72-hour crunch is like trying to fit a week's worth of laundry into a single dryer cycle – it's just not for the faint of heart!

@unchain To be honest, the effort to successfully design and complete this game has been so intense that I've almost lost all my hair...

Loved this project! Amazing use of the time to create something with immense polish and efficient use of time! As the artist of my team I am clicking around trying to study other games on how to scale down my complexity that way I can do all of the art rather than just a portion and use asset packs for the rest and this gave me a bunch of ideas!
The only thing I'd suggest if you were to tweak anything is to balance the sound effect noise levels a little bit? Some of your effects got a bit loud for my headphones. Might just be on my end! Loved the puzzles though, and the intro animation was spectacular!

This game was alot of fun! Neat puzzles, the graphics are funny, music is chill. I was stuck for 20min because I wanted to finish it so badly. Thanks for your entry and thanks for playing our game!

@starstia Oh my gosh, you're here too! I really didn't expect everyone in your group to be so fond of our game; it's quite flattering. Seriously, the people in your group are incredibly warm-hearted. You're definitely the most precious thing I've gained from this competition, hands down. Regarding your question, I'll discuss it with our artist right now and get back to you with a serious response. Our artist is really good at "cutting corners," and it seems like their approach is actually quite effective, haha.

@sn4pi I'm thrilled that you've taken such a liking to our game, as it's a treat we've prepared for all creators. Seriously, man, our team checked out your game together, and our programmer commented that "it has a very mature and robust underlying framework, which suggests that your programmer must be a seasoned professional in the industry." When I clicked on your profile, I was utterly amazed. I never expected that programming was just a hobby for you, and the depth of skill you've developed in your hobby is truly impressive. Of course, our programmer felt a bit humbled by this and has now gone off to further his studies, haha.

Well done! I like how many puzzles there were, and had an end goal. I especially like the puzzle where you had to place a folder to get up, then use the alpha tile to drop the folder down to use again.

Really an excellent game! It is very beautiful and polished.
The idea we had was very similar to yours. It's very interesting how they are two very different games.
I was really shocked by the amount of comments and ratings. That's a great sign. The game really deserves it.

Congratulations!

@drgcandle Wow thank you so much, now I feel really encouraged! Concerning programming, I started this hobby for over 10 years now, have also been at a tech school where we had 6hs of IT per week. I almost ended ended up working as a programmer but teaching dance was just more of a passion for me I'd say :man_dancing:

You guys have done such an amazing job with this game!
I loved how relatable it was and how you had to dodge stuff like "nyantok" as I call it and use tools like doogle!

The artsyle is lovely and the music and sound effects are really good too.
The puzzles were simple but intuitive. They struck the best balance between difficult and easy.

Polishing is also very on point. Everything feels and looks smooth!

Overall, this submission was on of my favourite!

Guess what? We also refer to it as "nyan-tok"—a rather fascinating consensus has been reached, LOL! In any case, I'm thrilled that you enjoy our game, buddy. I know our game may not measure up to those with more clout, so it's quite flattering to have received such praise. I have some friends with games that are also fantastic, even better than ours. Nice game! Really incredible look overall, all the illustrations/animations are cute and consistent with the overall environment. I really enjoyed the freedom you gave the player to stop and think with the option to pause, and also to pick and choose which tools to use, without forcing the player to use them all or to use a certain solution. I personally really liked the difficulty balance, and finishing the game was quite satisfying.

I'll be nitpicking now (just in case you wanted a few critiques), but here are a few aspects that were somewhat unclear for me:

1) The buttons on the main menu screen. To be honest, I was already caught off guard by the amazing art and didn't realize that it *wasn't* a cutscene, that I was waiting for nothing to happen and the 'Play' button was on the screen the entire time. However, making the buttons look even just slightly more like clickable buttons when not hovered over is probably enough to remedy this, so it's no big deal at all.

2) The fact that 'Space' could be used to pause (and that I could pause in general while still playing the game). I understood that 'Space' was used to begin movement (the giant 'PRESS SPACE' makes this clear), but it took me a few levels to realize that I could use it to pause as well. I'm not sure whether it was intended for the pause feature to be used while playing the game—though it seems intentional, as the player can still place tools down while paused—but it could still be useful to know regardless. Again, a simple fix like a tooltip/textbox informing the player about this would probably be sufficient.

Don't get me wrong though, this game is fantastic, very well put together. I'm truly inspired by this great feat your team has been able to pull off, and I hope every single one of you is proud of the work you've contributed to make this game possible. Simply put, amazing!

This is such a polished entry that's out of the usual summoning theme. The clean graphics and audio, and the interesting brain mechanic is well captured with the intended message/theme of wracking our brains for ideas. I'm surprised this is your first game jam, well done!

This is such a good game! Its so polished and unique, love it! The design of the Doogle letters only being able to activate on the left side also makes so much sense in languages that read from left to right. Awesome!

太强了!游戏完成度好高,关卡跟机制有一些挑战度又都很有趣,美术风格也很喜欢。很能跟剧情里的主人公共鸣 ;_;

可能希望能有关卡选单吧,玩的时候习惯性觉得R是重启键,结果误触T键跳关了(

It was fun, but honestly the levels were easy and many levels were completed without using all the items. And the topic is poorly developed. But it was nice to play anyway.

@rild @paulsams @xmake

Thank you all. Our game indeed needs some deeper evaluations, and your presence has made the feedback process complete.
Regarding the issue of level difficulty, I must admit there were some bugs that led to "skipping classes" problems. The bugs were particularly concentrated in the "roast chicken" part. Since they were discovered late and did not affect most players' experience, we didn't make changes. However, if it affected your experience, then I do apologize.
And frankly speaking, our puzzles are not very difficult. Looking back now, perhaps I still have a long way to go in balancing the fun and difficulty of puzzles. I also sincerely hope to know if you think there is a better design for these puzzles, as we could discuss it.
As for being unable to connect with our expressions and themes, that's actually more normal and common. After all, such things are more subjective, but you have also proven that we achieved differentiation, which is great.
In any case, thank you for these evaluations, and thank you for your support.

@cheesepencil Bro, I won't beat around the bush—I've been dying to do this for a while now. But unfortunately, our programmer got "arrested" by endless overtime after the competition ended, completely unable to break free. Even though he was more than willing and had planned everything out, those damn bosses threw a wrench in all of it. He handed me his project files, like he was entrusting me with some sort of "bucket list" or his dearest girl. He told me, "Find someone, give them the project files, and ask if they can help make a version that can be played on the web." I know it might not be that hard, but the harsh reality is that everyone's super busy, and no one wants to take on a thankless task like this. But I can tell you that I'm still looking for help, and as soon as someone is willing to lend a hand, I'll make sure you're one of the first to play it.

I just love the doodle graphics, it looked clean and well polished. As others said, the puzzles weren't challenging in particular, but I think that's completely fine for a game jam where you don't have as much time to get player feedback and adjust the difficulty.

This is great! The art was awesome, and the puzzles were very well made. I had a lot of fun playing through the game, and I especially liked the last level of the third puzzle piece. You really nailed the level design. It was easy to understand how to play and very fun to figure out the solutions to the levels. Well done!

This is super polished! the artstyle is awesome and very very creative use of the theme!

The puzzles are really made mechanics are used to their full potential!
I felt really clever for managing to cheese some of the puzzles, but that doesn't take away from the strength of the level design, it's a very well made and complete feeling entry, great job!
