LD 55 - The Great "Sum"-moner! by LDJam user 122325
A battle of mathematical wits! In this world people duel by summoning magical numbers and throw them at their opponents.
Gameplay: Your avatar has several single digit numbers around them. You leftclick on them to select them or unselect, if they are already selected. Your opponent throws a single number at you, which will deal damage to you if it reaches you. If you leftclick on the opponents number, you will throw a single number - the sum of your selected digits - and if both numbers are equal, you will block the opponents number and deal damage to them.
Made with Unity, Blender and GIMP Compiled only for Windows, as I didn't have other build packages downloaded

Hey everyone, sorry I didn't reply for so long
The "Start Game" not working is now fixed, along with another game breaking bug
Though there is still a soft lock when being hit while the summoning animation is playing, but it feels like this would be too much post-editing for the jam
Download links remain the same
It can actually get really stressful when the numbers get really large but the digits available to you are all small.
A really awesome extension to the concept would be the ability to add symbols to the sum, that way you could do multiplication, division, subtraction as well!
The font for the numbers was a little hard to read, and the light source was in a weird position, so the shadows for the numbers relative to the actual numbers was wildly different based on their positions on the screen. This made it harder to play but in not a meaningful way (like, for example, more difficult math problems would have been). That kind of stuff can be hard to fix in a jam setting, so it's understandable, but would be something to fix if you go back to it.
And if I used my time better (and ate better, as to not become very tired on day 1 ), it may haven even worked out to add them...
But I take it as a learning experience to make more of the good stuff next time :D
In case you want to know what I had planned:
The new opponent would have been a kind of "know-it-all" who would for his ultimate attack start talking so much that it would confuse you/make you lose your focus, visualized as your numbers moving around instead of staying in place
My plans for the final boss involved much more "spectacle":
When you hit them for the last time, they would quickly take off their cloak and reveal their true power: "Multiply by Zero", which would have countered your last attack and started the 2nd phase (you can actually partly see the "x0" on their chest during the fight, because the cloak clips through it ^^')
Though I didn't quite know if 2nd phase was just a continuation of the double numbers or even more (which would probably have been too much) while they nullified the damage you would have dealt (at least visibly, in the background they would still have the hitpoint system as normal)
After their hidden health going to 0, you would have added yourself/"your own value" for a final attack, which they didn't expect and were too late to react (or maybe you could see their mouth turn into a grin, accepting their defeat to something so outside the box ^^)
I wonder how people would have reacted to that "over-the-top anime style believe in yourself" nonsense at the end but I certainly would have loved making it :D
But that would have likely taken me many additional hours as well ^^' (though in hindsight could have been possible if I went to Jam instead of Compo )

This here doesn't have any ghosts, only numbers :D
Making amends, I did play your game and completed it ^_^ though I do suck at quick math xD
Art was nice. I don't think there was a sound? At least in browser version I didn't hear any.
Sometimes numbers that flew into you I could not click on because of the numbers you select, maybe your opponent should have been the one you click on to avoid overlap.
Great job on the game!
