Farmer Survivor by LDJam user 388487
Thanks for checking out my first game ever! It’s a clone of vampire survivors, where you summon animals instead of using weapons to fight off monsters.
Made in Godot, Strudel (for music generation) and Procreate!
Web Version available on itch.io (down in the links), didn't work here because of SharedArrayBuffer...
Controls: movement with WASD, Mouse Click to pick upgrade You have a shovel, that attacks enemies once in a while.
You have three animals to choose from: 1. Sheep shoots in all directions 2. Chicken lays bombeggs 3. Cow deals contact damage to enemies
Your final score is XP that you picked up during the game
Known bugs: 1. If you get level up when standing on summoning circle. It will lock infinitely in «full» state, and you won’t be able to use it anymore 2. To pick and upgrade you have to click on the card background (not on the icon or text on top) 3. MacOS Gatekeeper might dislike the game for not being signed 4. Same with Windows, also missing icon and proper exe details
My completely abandoned twitter, where I'll try to post updates about my gamedev journey: @pupirkaa_

Changelog:
15/04 11:06 UTC:
- Fixed summoning circle breaking, if you level up on top of it
- Fixed unable to pick upgrade when clicking on upgrade icon

My biggest gripe with your game is that its too zoomed in, I would like to better view my surroundings.
I think sometimes a completed progress bar gets stuck and doesnt visually update anymore. The circle then still spawns new animals but there's just a completed progress bar on top of it.
So this is your very first game? You did a great job!
The view is too near the player (web version).
There is a lack of feedback and sound when monsters dies, take damage etc....
It's **again** a game like vampire survivor's.
i didn't know the cow can eat monsters, i thinked it was vegetarian.
This is a good start.
I'm not sure why I would summon multiple animal instead of upgrading a single kind. Because of the low amount of upgrades, I can upgrade f.ex. chicken almost every level. There' might be a reason I'm not seeing, but I do fine without it.
On the theme: I like that you picked something other than the default warlock, but then the farmer uses summon circles anyways? Feels a bit off? The sacrifice health mechanic was cool, but again it doesn't really fit the farming theme? A warlock might have made more sense here
This post ended up a bit negative, but I think this game is really cool, and the art looks great
Make animals poop and let the player clean this mess up and you get a Cult of the Lamb lol.
I think the game difficulty is more of less static, this is why I felt overpowered after a few upgrade levels. The main danger is your own army because in the end I was surrounded to submission.
I recorded myself playing the game if you're into that weird kind of stuff (such as watching other people play your games):

It took me a while to notice the way sheep are attacking.
Overall, it was good to know that every unit has its own mechanics.
I haven't read the game description but I was able to get this info while playing the game itself.
It was a cool fun game, loved the summoning mechancic
It's good, and I think with a bit more polish it could be great! Things like more animations, sfx, particle effects, feedback when taking damage etc.
Overall really nice work, especially considering it's your first jam!
Game is super cute!
I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature but when I press space I get XP for free.
Eventually I got stuck in the corner of the screen trampled by my lovely :cow:.
Love the mood, the artworks are super cute and very coherent, spent a lot of time playing it and to me the chicken are the most powerful pets haha
Really good job!
I got stuck several times in my herd, at one point I got pinned to a corner and couldn't progress anymore.
Something I haven't noticed anyone else say yet, I think you may have used a positional audio to play the BGM, if you used streamaudio2d, try just stream audio
The game was a lot of fun. I haven't played vampire survivor much but I really enjoyed your variation on it, the summoning mechanic made for interesting strategic choices on when to risk your hearts to get more minions.
Guys, thank you so much for feedback! I'm going to polish my game and add more content in the nearest time so you can follow me on [itch page](https://pupirkaa.itch.io) and in [twitter](https://twitter.com/pupirkaa_). I'll post my progress there
I see a lot of potential in this survivors style game, keep it up!
It's very cute and art looks awesome!
As for me there could be more sound effects to indicate what's happening better.
