I also made a a rythm game, but a much simpler one.
I like how lives are represented as villagers. A bit dark but also funny, with all the death animations.

Hi!
Thank you so much for all your nice and interesting comments! It helps a lot!
Happy to see you had fun!
You're right, the difficulty gap is really challenging and the choice of keys was also subjective, that's what worked for us  ...
though I see some of you succeded to go throught without dying. Gg to you! Right to flex provided!
Looking forward to play your games!
Thanks for the feedback
Full cleared the entertainer. Let's gooooooo!

Yes the QWER is because we are a Swiss team with qwertz keyboard . This will definitly be an improvement we can do.
Was so much fun looking someone playing our game.
Oh man, that's insane...
I think.. Yes I think - as a tribute to your hard work - we won't change the key binding.
Let it stay QWER! let it continue to kill brains !
And yes.. the level of joy after so many loss.. Happy you like it! XD
...
Your last comment made me laugh so hard.. yes! Yes, that's definetly a way to play it XD
Also, found a funny bug - if to click outside of the game window, game will think that I have completed the level
Thank you for your game! Have a nice Jam!
Thanks all for playing our game! Hope you had fun
(We had put it in the description if poeple want to skip levels)

How did you make the notes line up so tightly with the audio? I'm assuming you just play the audio file, do you need to actively synchronize or can you just animate the notes based on time?
Actually we tried to add some spice to the game by adding a little shake on the notes when you succeed and a shake on the screen + flash when you lose (too subtle?). There's also more clouds as you progress through the song. Though you're right that is regardless of the success level or the number of keys you hit before a miss. Thank you for your feedback, that helps a lot :)
Did you play in full screen or windowed? We developped on full screen and it is true the title doesn't scale down..
For the music we used the ddrywet midi asset (you can see in description).
I did spy on my composer friend during the jam and.. I clearly saw him click the notes when the villagers where supposed to dance!.. I think he bind the key to a specific midi "effect" or "sound". That's 4 different drums for level one and 4 different notes for level two (two original musics he composed for this game).
As for "the entertainer" at the end, he also added drums and that's what you actually have to match in that level.
But I think having more presence on the screen in general for the core gameplay elements would be good. More custom/stylized sprites for the letters coming onto the screen and something stylized for the place where they "strike." I'd never thought of it before, but I think this is why most rhythm games of this type give the player a "highway." It gives the oncoming notes a sense of fitting in with the rest of the scene, where they feel abstract in this game. I think it only really sticks out because the personality and art of the other elements is so good - the lightning when you miss a note is hilarious, and so is the sprite for a dead summoner. And the dance moves as you play are awesome, as well as the expanding sprites over the course of the game. So please don't take this as an overall negative perception - I loved your game! I just think the UI definitely could have fit in better and been flashier!

Oh no! Thank you very much for your comments ! They are very helpful ^^ . We coded a "dual" game, you hit or you miss, and tried to focus on this part without realizing how much the rest could elevate the game. Definitely will take this into account in our next rythme game! ;)
Haha happy you liked that winning face XD
Absolutely great jam! Good job ❤️
Thank you all for your feedbacks ! Hope you had a good time playing ^^
Promise next rythme game we'll try to offer some settings to change the key bindings XD (the "Vertical QWER brain killer" may still stay as default though, who knows... )
Good points on the menus! We'll keep that in mind!
Thanks for playing!
A very nice rhythm game with some good beats.
also loved the games overall art style.
Found it very funny having people get struck by lightning for my mistakes.
Awesome work!
The only very minor detail that could be improved imo is that the inputs (and ui) felt unrelated to the theme. Would be cool if they had a wooden texture and a fitting font or something.
Summoning rain is an interesting solution of the theme!
Thank you so much for your comments! Glad you enjoyed the game!
@aviv-levy Thanks for suggestion, good idea a wooden cartoony like texture would have been nice ^^ We'll keep that in mind for a next game :)
It would've been nice to see a bit more design work on the UI, or even some colours on the QWER destinations to help differentiate them.
Fun interpretation!
I beat the second level with only one villager left but the third level was too hard for me.
I really like the visuals and the gameplay is well done too. Great work!
And now... I also didn't succeed in the game :(
But very fun (and funny) game!

Thank you all for your feedbacks!
With some people enjoying the QWER key binding and others finding it just too hard, that's clear that the next game will need to have a key binding menu.. and probably also a choice between horizontal and vertical notes!
@assafl Good luck with the entertainer!! Sure you'll succeed to play it some day!(That's also a goal of mine, haha)
@naplz98 I love that sceenshot! XD
Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed the game :)
ARGGGHRGEHGRGRG
I REALLY TRIED TO BEAT THIS ONE
but it has beaten me insted :(
Great idea, great game, much fun, but difficulty progression is INSANE. Like, is it even possible to finish it? I dunno.
Still, i'm thrilled
