Still, I had fun with it! I just wish there was a way to keep going forever if you were playing well enough. Maybe there is and I'm just bad lol.
@mad-brokli -Thank you!! :D
@nvrskipgameday -Awww shucks -thank you so much for all those awesomely kind words! ^_^
@auxc - Dude! I actually forgot about super sprint until you mentioned it!! I was thinking about Super off road when I made this after you mentioned super sprint I went back and was studying the arcade version's play mechanics -i forgot how fun those controlled -I totally plan to tweak it to play a bit closer to super sprint!! Anyway thank you so much!! :D
Innovation: Probably the most innovative game I've played so far this Jam, who would've though racecars and farming would work so well together?! If you wanted to keep innovating further, I think the driving/vehicle stats would be the place to do it. Maybe let me get a wider harvester instead of just turning sharper.
Theme: Fantastic use of the theme. Harvesting was front and center as the main way to progress in this game. One way to make this game more thematic would be to add more time spent harvesting, instead of always switching between the 4 vehicles. Maybe the plants could stay for 2 laps of harvesting instead of 1, to just give the player more time harvesting.
Graphics: Very polished and well-done graphics, this game honestly looks like it's ready for release based on visuals alone. Extremely well done on the main art, menus, and "ambient" graphics. The water effects and harvesting effects were a nice touch as well. One small improvement would be to add some additional movement to the crops and structures to make them feel more "alive" compared to the crowd.
Audio: Great music track and sound effect usage. Every area of the game I expected sounds I got them. I don't recall hearing crowd cheering noises, so that's one thing I think could improve the audio experience.
Humor: The concept of the game is just hilarious at the outset, and the different structures I think played into that humor well. Adding some more Formula 1/NASCAR references, or farm humor would go great in this game.
@tobius First off, thank you for taking the time to write such a well thought out review like that! I reread it again just to take notes some fantastic suggestions in here! I do plan to have future levels with little keys and doors that open alternate paths. Also, I loooved the idea of watering the audience! Putting that on the todo list! There was a lot of stats I wanted to add like capacity for how many crops you could hold for example -but was already over-scoping on this one lol -really really really liked your idea of upgrading harvester's width! There are 3 moments the crowd cheers: when you lap, drive really close to make them do the wave, or when you level them up -will have to think of more ways to include cheering! And Lastly, on humor totally agree! Already have a small list of unused puns! Anyway, thank you so much for your amazing feedback and kind words!

I see you don't have a lot of votes. you should really start voting on other games to increase your coolness.
you can always starts we our game first
To have something to nag about: I ran into a few bugs as you predicted  But that wasn't a game breaker at all!
Every little detail felt amazingly polished, down to the smallest details of the crowd and the crops. The variety of upgrades and modifiers was incredible too. Seriously, I could go on and on. Amazing job!!
One of the best game I played this Ludum Dare and didn't expect this kind of mixing of genres.
I had to stop myself from playing because it was so addicting.
Noice
Here is my high score:
@glaikunt duuude that's an awesome score (better than my own so far!) and thank you so much!!
@melanie what an awesome thing to say! thank you so much!! xD
@kultuk lol totally want to increase my coolness! xD I was just waiting for a day I had time to catch up and play some ld games -yours game was great btw!! -had a lot of fun playing it! :D
@oadt lol bugs xD if there were any worth mentioning feel free to let me know! and thank you for your kind words! :D
@bloodfin Thank you so much! and if there's anything that you think would help improve getting tile bonuses -feel free to let me know! :D
@hawkin What an awesome thing to hear!! -Thank you so much!!! :D
@swayam2004 wooooahh duuuuude I didn't even know a score that high was possible! :o that's awesome! I may need to adjust that difficulty balance lol
@pope-paf I actually thought the same thing early on except I had a parking spots on the lap that basically you would ram into other vehicles to switch on the fly -I agree though, it would be fun to be able to fast switch -might try something like that!! anyway thank you! :D
really a good game i enjoyed playing!
Ps. Love the references
I will admit I was rather confused at the start, and didn't quite understand what to do at the Pit (as I thought that choosing a different vehicle cost money and I didn't have any to start) at first, but when I finally realized what to do, WOW!! That was so good!! And everything looked and felt polished!
Well done!! :D
very polished, smooth gameplay. enjoyed it alot
Well done!
@caranha I think you're right, definitely am looking forward to balancing it more -I might have to make the turn upgrade more effective. And thank you for playing! :D
@andidebob Weird -I have a code in there that's supposed to prevent you from being able to make a purchase when all the land is taken -but it wasn't supposed to prevent you from playing lol -sorry about that! and thank you for letting me know -will look into that! And thank you so much for playing and the feedback!! :D
@rincs Thank you so much! I wondered if anyone would think that switching vehicles cost money, I definitely need to add a tutorial or make it more user friendly. And thank you for your kind words!! :D
@cagil-ozdemirag Thats a really good point! I think I'm going to make it so in view map you can hover over the buildings to get more info about them or if theres enough room maybe just their name and neighbor bonus. Anyway thank you so much! :D
@elastiskalinjen Thank you!! :D
@richard-jedlicka Thank you so much!! And I had planned to have competitors and had to scrap that as I was running out of time and they were creating a lot of bugs. Similarly, was thinking of having random laps where birds race the track and try to eat your crops. Not sure what to do there yet as I don't want to frustrate the player. Anyway thank you for your kind words!! :D
@zubspace Lol I love doing tiny details/animations! xD and thank you so much!! :D
@runicpixels Awww shucks -very kind of you to say!! Thank you so much!! :D
So many content for this kind of short jams, bravo !
@zakku ahh crap -sorry about that! But thank you!! :D
@koboldskeep that's pretty much exactly what it does, it loses time every lap -after a bunch of laps the only way you can keep going is driving well and having items that generate more time each lap. Each item shows a little coin or clock pop up each lap but maybe it's not obvious enough as there is a lot going on the screen -i might have to make that pop out more -anyway thanks for playing! :D
The game felt really alive and complete, with a great core of driving that felt good, and this tower the crop loop over and, then this tower of upgrades and features standing on top of it all. Plus jammin tunes and nice graphics.
I really enjoyed my time playing. If I could have one boon, it would be to be able to navigate the Pit screen with the keyboard, at least enough to switch vehicles, maybe with 1-4 number keys.
Very impressive entry, great job!
And I really wanted to make that pit menu keyboard friendly but was running out of jam time -planning to add that though! (number keys is a good idea btw!)
Anyway, thank you for all the awesome kind words! :D
I had a jolly good time doing my laps and upgrading until at some point the screen just went black. But by then I had already purchased almost everything, just wanted to do a few more nitro-fueled laps :)
It felt like the audience was not really helpful in terms of money compared to harvesting and the amount of money made using harvest skyrocketed towards the end, but it was all in good fun :)
PS: Great name for the game too!
Combining farming and racing is such a great concept, and its executed very well. Having the different farming actions represented by different vehicles is intuitive and fun. The other mechanics are also easy to pick up; building different buildings for upgrades makes sense, and the various obstacles and bonuses that show up on the track also are pretty easy to understand.
I do think it's somewhat difficult to understand how time is gained. It seems like the crowd will give you time upgrades, occasionally, but I'm not sure how effective crowd upgrades are in giving me more time. The other problem is it's not exactly clear when or why "bonus time" is granted, or why the bonus time value is a particular value.
I do think that a longer tutorial section could be useful. It took me a few times stopping at the pit stop and reading the game description before I figured out exactly what to do, which seems like means I might have wasted more of my precious time that maybe I should have. Of course, the first run a player does will always have more time loss than their second run, so I guess it's not actually a huge problem. (And, once I did figure out what to do, it was such a fun concept that I just wanted to jump in and start playing!)
Unfortunately the game ultimately crashed before I lost. What happened is, I was trying to build the thing that reduces nitro cost, but I wanted to cancel out so I could read what the bonus building was. I hit "Escape" to try to cancel the building command, and then the game crashed. :(
I think that canceling a building is my single biggest gripe with the UI -- over my playthrough, I had misclicked on building purchases multiple times and had to cancel out, but it felt a little sluggish somehow...? Not sure what's going on there. Maybe it's not officially supported to hit Escape to cancel?
Perhaps I'll have to try playing again now that I have more knowledge about the game.
Overall, though, this was a really good entry. It honestly looks and sounds incredible, it's just a great execution of a very fun genre combination. Great job!
@honey-pony First off that was all super helpful! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such detailed feedback. I'm working on a post jam update and am rethinking the bonus time aspect -at the moment it is essentially a diminishing amount every lap.
A longer tutorial is something I want to avoid as I don't like tutorials in games but I do want to make it easier to figure out and am thinking of ways to improve that. On that note, in case it's useful to you I skipped the tutorial on your game but it was designed so intuitively that I only made a couple small mistakes in the beginning but it was forgiving enough that I was able to master it and have a really good time discovering all the nuances to how the cards/farming worked. Btw, I loved your game!! I want a version that's fully decked out (pun) that I can buy on steam! :D
Also, thank you so much for the detailed description of the crashes (sorry it crashed by the way) super helpful!! I didn't even think of anyone using escape to cancel a purchase/building! I wanted to have a cancel building purchase button but by the time I thought of it I didn't have enough time to implement it. So, escape was escaping the pit menu but not canceling your purchase/build lol (face palm here -can't believe I missed that xD. Anyway, that was all super helpful and thank you so so much for all the kind words and helpful feedback! :D
I would defintely play this more!
@cemkaanu thank you so much!! :D
@sarah dawww shucks -that's so awesome of you to say -thank you!! :D
