Path of the Pogo by Human Writes Code

What's more unstable than a pogo stick? Well, maybe it's a man who tries to navigate a dank and dangerous cave while ON a pogo stick!
It's finnicky. It's brutal. It's punishing. It has a jamming song on loop.
Welcome to Path of the Pogo!
If any of you crazy pogo jumper flippers make it to the end of the game, please post a screenshot of your stats. I promise to be very impressed! It can be done... I beat it in playtesting... it's just super hard

CONTROLS
Use A and D to balance/tilt on your pogo stick.
Hold down SPACE to charge a pogo jump.
Release SPACE to pogo jump!
Press ESCAPE while playing to pause and bring up the sound settings.
HINTS
Lava, spinning saw blades and swinging axes should probably be avoided. I mean, what are they even doing in a cave anyway?
CREDITS
HumanWritesCode (that's me, HI!) did the programming, art, sound effects and music for the game. I made the whole thing on my lonesome.

Also me: proceeds to take about 9 minutes getting the first two collectibles, and then immediately makes a beeline for the first thing in the level that can kill you, and learns that collectibles are not saved when you die.
Oh, and can't forget how for several tries I kept attempting to use the arrow keys even though I had read the controls on the Itch page and Ludum Dare site. After playing so many games where it says "Use WASD" and it secretly has arrow keys support, I tend to try arrow keys in games. Yes, I'm that dumb.
Alright, now that that's out of the way, go stick the music on Spotify, I want it on my playlist. 👍

Thanks for checking it out!
I did manage to get myself stuck on a ledge and no amount of wiggling could get me free, had to restart (was near the beginning anyway so no big loss).

While I don't think many would use it a restart button might be handy, will help for the times when stuck like this, and for those who wish to grind for a PB or just want to nail that first bounce.
I did consider "R" to restart run (probably should have implemented it) just because you die so often that that 5 second wait to respawn could become infuriating.
Also, I play tested this a fair bit and about 70% of the time I died in that first lava pit so don't feel alone in that.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing!
End result is you end up stuck like in the picture.
Oh and spinning my way to the first part is just hilarious, IRL pogo sticks should definitely have very powerful reaction wheels inside them.
Thanks for taking the time to play my game!
I got the same bug as already said in other comments, every time when the pogo is fully charged, but releasing doesn't do anything.
Your pixel art is pretty good and the music was really nice!
Good entry ;)
I think i am not made for the rage games xD
I found the jumping noise a bit jarring/loud compared to everything else, but the graphics are really cute and I love them.
I'd love to see someone who is good at games try and beat it though, seems like it would be a really entertaining rage game :3
The graphics are nice, they match the game's proposal.
The sound is nice too.
The different gameplay is the core of the game. I think it a bit complicated to understand how it works, but with a few minutes playing it's possible to get the hang of it.
Good job!
