Dungeon Escape by Crazybot
The dungeon is always changing and expanding! How far can you get in an endless maze full of traps?
The maze is computer generated so trying to remember the way won't work!

The game is a combination of running through the maze trying to find the exit and avoiding many different types of traps
I made the game entirely by myself, all the models, textures, programming. I didn’t reuse anything either
Tip:
The axe traps at some doors make a small sound before they trigger, so you have enough time to dodge.
And the rats will run away if you shine your light directly at them
This is pretty different from my other games so I'd love to know what you think

I would really appreciate it if you could try again :)
Only feedback I have is some of the walls on 5th level were showing back faced culled looked like they were not supposed to be there. I could not go further.
Still a great entry! this was fun to play
Since it's a game breaking bug I think it's fair to quickly patch it
Got to level 7 and couldn't progress further, but had a blast!

And if you're talking about the mice, they will run away if you shine your light directly at them
I guess that those two are pretty hard to find out on your own :)
One suggestion I would make is to make it a bit more obvious if a door was trapped, as it felt a bit frustrating sometimes when I got hit in the face with an axe haha. Good job though, good submission!
I felt that there was a sense of urgency, with the cave in...
And lastly about the rats, you need to look down. Right at them, maybe you have some extremely rare glitch I don't know about but otherwise it should always work like that
Anyway, thanks for playing the game :)
+ Nice detail in the rooms of the dungeons
+ The Levels have a good size and scale in size pretty good
+ Overall the difficulty curve is just right for me
+ The introduction of new traps further down keeps me going. otherwise this game would be quite boring after some time.
+ rats are annoying (They should be in my opinion xD)
+ the click before tha axe trap is a great indicator. The axe was also my favorite trap because of this. It felt really good to figure out this trap after 2 times and by the third door: "haha! Not this time, axe!"
+ Nice atmosphere with the background sound / trap sounds / screen shake / lighting
- The player speed felt a bit too fast for me. Sometimes I would liked to go slower so I don't run into a trap by accident. Perhaps include a button to toggle walk/run.
- The potions are a bit misleading. I tried to take a red potion to refill health but that did not work of course. Maybe some rare item to refill health a bit would benefit the game to create a moment of relief when you are nearly dead and find a refill.
-The Sound of the sawblades were a bit wierd when in another room somtimes. Like on off on off on off. Don't know how do describe it better.
So the negative feedback really does not weigh that much. This is a great game. I enjoyed it a lot and hope my feedback helps.
Got to level 12 and might try to beat this some time.
And I totally agree with just about every critique you have, if I had time these are just about all things I would add/change
The saw sound is a stupid one (on my part) because I just couldn't find a saw sound that would loop perfectly!
Potions would probably as you said add some much needed relief in later levels :)
- No music or Audio a big bummer I really was excited for that
- The intro was a bit confusing how after everything you have to skip
- It was really fun to play but it was a bit hard I always died at the fourth floor.
Hope you check my game out https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/48/lostbrother
Just wanted to let you know before I get a bad rating on that category lol
- For some feedback, when I started I immediately got damaged by rats. This made me frantically run into some spikes that suddenly came out of the ground (in my rush I didnt see the tripwire), and then suddenly I teleported to a different place (I ran into the room with the way down, but I did not realize that was a thing yet). This was all very overwhelming and confusing, and I had no idea how I should protect myself against these random terrors. I think it might be better to spawn the player in a peaceful room at first, and give them the time to discover how the game works. On the other hand, it made me very paranoid of everything that came next, so maybe it served its purpose.
- The rats were really cool, becaue they made you run away from them, making it more likely you stepped into some traps. On the other hand they felt a bit unfair (for me), since it was nearly impossible to get away from them without taking at least a bit of damage.
- I really loved the atmospheric sound effects! They felt truely fitting. However, the game still felt a bit silent to me. Maybe because the sound effects where pretty silent/non-impactful? I actually dont really know why it felt that way.
- One final thing I wanted to note is that (for me) keeping my health high was a bigger problem than the time. I never felt in fear of running our of time, however my health got really low near the end (and evenutally zero :P). Maybe this was intentional, but I just wanted to let you know!
All-in-all I really liked this game. You mentioned this was a bit different from your usual games, but I think you did a great job! After getting hit in the face by an axe, I got very carefull when opening doors. And once I noticed that those spikes were triggered by tripwires, I also started looking at the floor more. This game makes you very paranoid, which I think was exactly the point.
Balancing the health and time was really difficult because people play very differently, some people are careful but slow and others are fast but take a lot of damage
My brother for example almost always died from time, so yeah, I'm not sure how I would fix it but that's definitely something I would've worked on if I had more time!
