I only realized what was happening when I watched your video, where you can see things (including the cat) in the water.
But I love the idea here, and I had a good amount of fun just hopping around for a few minutes. Let me know if there's a way to fix the water issue and I'll give it another try!
Here's my updated review: this was a cute premise, and the art was perfect. The cat was a little too fast and jumped a little too high for me, but it was fun to hop (and swim) around in the world. I only realized I could eat the grass and throw up because I spent so much time above the water in my first playthrough, so it might have been cool to draw more attention to that. I was mostly just eating everything I could find, but I managed to beat it. I could see expanding this to include other ingredients with other colors, which would let you add more levels. Overall great job!
Very, very interesting winning condition that I'd love to see explored even further O:
Nice work
I wish it were longer, and here's hoping you'll use the engine or world to make a longer game - Great work!
The game look gorgeous and the controls feel great! I just feel like the camera is a bit too slow to follow the player
The concept is quite original, and even though I suck with colours I still have fun trying to recreate the right one!
Interesting and unusual mechanic, though I would have liked a bit more clue as to how to achieve the colour I was looking for. It seemed a bit trial and error. More levels would be nice of course, and I found a bug whereby I wasn't able to get out of the water sometimes. Seemed like a collision issue.
I actually kinda liked how high the cat jumped - ridiculous though it was, I assumed it was a reference to the real cat on which he's based who, I assume, is able to launch himself many feet into the air at will?
although maybe the concept could be a bit more fleshed out?? with like a clearer indication of how each element changes each color
also as for the gameplay the camera was a bit too small? or perhaps the movements/sprite size was too big, and the height of the jumps made the camera a bit erratic
overall great entry!
- Kepp the color art the same (you have dithering only in the water and on the sky)
- Jump is TOO high, also it moves with the camera, thats NOT good. I really got nauseated
Good game, congrats =)
Nevertheless, good to see the amount of work done you did and I like your music as well!
I wish there was a way to add "black" dye to reduce quantities of the other dyes. I think you have a really interesting concept here, where the objects in the game are either collectibles or things to avoid, depending on where you are on the color bar.
Yeah... nobody read our tutorial either. ;)
