Euro Drunk Simulator by Tardif Adrian

[raw]
made by Tardif Adrian for Ludum Dare 49 (JAM)

We are a team of seven students from Gamesup Lyon.

After making several annoying stupid shitty game we decide to make the most stupid of them all (joke).

To match the theme of this Ludum, we made a game where you incarnate a drunk bus driver who takes kids to school, trying not to loose on your way.

We hope you will have a lot fun playing our game like we have to make it, thank you and have a great time playing.

We know there are FPS issues we're really sorry about it. *

If you have some issues with WASD keys you can also use directionnals arrows to control the bus.

Very cool idea. So satisfying. My problems: I do not turn left and do not drive forward using the **A** and **W** keys. Very low FPS even on my **i7-11700K** + **RTX 3070**. Anyway, good job.

@evileptic First, thank you for your comment !
Sorry for the fps we had some issues with the optimisation. About the Keys it might comes from our keyboard, we're french and we've mapped it in AZERTY, i'm not 100% sure but it could be the source.

wow. First of all: who is drunk, the driver or the children?
apart from frame drops and some key issues (don't use the W button, use the UP Button - I spend too much time trying to drive backwards), it was pretty cool!

Pretty cool game :)

I love the city design.
But sadly I also need to say that my fps were suffering quite a bit.
And I also drove backwards for a long time.

The idea is pretty nice and I also like the artstyle. However, my bus got stuck and the FPS always dropped when I looked in the rearview mirror. If these problems are fixed, however, the game is very nice!

It was epic. Very cool game, but there are some optimization problems. Overall I liked it!

Pretty funny game, I didn't have the fps lag as bad.

Haha, that ending is great. I literally have nightmares where I can't control my car like this. I loved seeing the passengers flop around and fly out of the bus in the rear view mirror. great work overall! made me laugh.

Cool game!
I like that the map is pretty large, but I found myself not paying attention to the kids, since that didn't really matter. Maybe add a score based on the amount of kids you lost on the way? :D
Your game is probably going to score high on the Funny category!

This game should have been called "Stupid Kids Can't Stay In Their Sits" Nice theme interpretation. Surprisingly I did not experience any FPS issues, even though I'm using a pretty weak laptop. You've done a great job on level design and modeling. The town felt like a legit level from a driving simulator!

the controls bit weird for me(it's not wasd like the title screen says, it's qdsz for me) but still had a fun. the music at the end gave me jumpscare lol

Watching the people ragdoll around in the back was pretty funny, but I couldn't get the bus to go anywhere, since it seems like every key besides forward would cause me to go flying backwards.

After reading it works also with the arrows I managed to WIN. It felt rewarding.
I love the little details, like the beer bottle on the windscreen. Very nice. The town seems pretty big but I finished the game in a minute? Maybe think about allocating your resources and time differently for the next game? I love the outro cinematic! A success you put this together -- please continue making games! :)

The framerate is veeeeeeery low (on my RTX 3090 24 GB RAM + 128 GB RAM + Xeon W-2295 36-core).

Really funny game! It's kinda short but that great ending makes up for it  The environment is really nice and stylized as well

Interesting little game. The conflict between the keyboard layouts made controlling the bus a little difficult, but that just led to more giggles!

I embraced AZERTY like a true Euro Drunk! Ending scared the shit out of me and then made me laugh. Didn't run into the framerate issues others did, no idea why. I certainly don't have a 3090...

Hey everyone ! thank you all for your feedback we're really appreciating it's awesome :D

Despite bugs and FPS issues you seem to like it.

Once again, thank you all for all your comments and advices, we will try to improve and optimise this version.

I noticed that spamming ESC key until the game stop bug, works !

Have a great day ! :)

I disapprove of drunk driving, disgusting! Anyways, I made a game about drunk shooting.

This game is pretty fun, kinda sad for the fps drops when looking at the student tho.
I think the car controls are pretty cool, it's pretty easy to understand and drive.
I liked the setup at the end with the music coming when approaching the final ramp, it's was pretty funny, great job

It's a pretty dope game, aside from the optimization, it's a fun short little experience, and to be honest, that's everything I want in a Ludum Dare game. One thing that could be cool is if the seats break down after a while, so the kids can now yeet towards the camera for even more chaos. Nice job.

Tbh I don't mind the frame drops, its a ld game made in Unreal lol not gonna dock anyone for performance issues. The audio was something I particularly enjoyed, did you all program the engine noise yourself? Sounded really professional imo. I'm wondering if this was intentional but were the WASD controls being disabled and moving around on their own? Nice touch if so lol <3

@conduit Thank you for your feedback ! The engine sound was in UE4 but we made the screams !
About the controls, we made the bus turns on its own and also cancel some inputs to simulate the "drunk drive".

A simple but fun concept. The graphics were good overall, with a lot of different assets and some nice details like the direction signs. I didn't have any performance issue on my side but I've got a rather high end pc though. The music in the end was way too loud compared to the rest of the game. Also, it felt a bit like the "drunk" idea was underused with only the 'controller drift', and some drunk visual effect with the view being twisted or something could have been nice to emphasize the drunk part.

I understand that in a jam there is not much choice, but you should not have chosen UE. The graphics are not cool enough to use such an engine, it makes everything very laggy.
The idea is very cool for a small game, if dopilit it - can come out not a bad thing ;)

Crazy game with an unexpectedly epic and cinematic ending! Pretty atmospheric graphics, feels like a 3D cartoon. Good job!

funny concept of a game and impressive visuals. The controls where sometimes unresponsible and it it seems that "W" doesnt work anytime for driving forward (so just used the arrrow keys which then works).
Cool game.

I was driving, minding my own stuff AND THEN MUSIC KICKS IN AND I'M THROWING OFF HEADPHONES FROM MY HEAD ;D
And the kids should put their seat belts on... The experience was amazing, thanks! Good luck!
